Try Parcel2Go (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://clkuk.tradedoubler.com/click?p(14672)a(60823)g(94545))

I've not used them so can't comment on what they're like, but I have seen them mentioned in various places.

Good luck with Selective, had to rebook a collection 3 times with them and still no show :suspect:
Does a lot of trade so I may have been unlucky, but reading his neg feedback if it doesn't go right first time its not too good a lookout after.

Used Pharos (http://www.pharos-international.co.uk) a fair few times, they subcontract UPS and it's excellent.

I just bought a set of Alloy Wheels for my Focus, off eBay, but they were in Coventry.

I used United Parcels (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-1751-2978-71/1?AID=5463217&PID=582776&mpre=http%3A//cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D230094235195) on eBay for £45.

They actually used Parcelforce 24 who collected the wheels on Wednesday, and delivered yesterday. Parcelforce charge £116.85 for the same service, if you go direct to them!

Anyway, United Parcels offer similar services for smaller/lighter items as well.

Definitely Pharos - I think they're the only people that haven't had a horror story thread of their own on here at one point or another!

Do look on eBay - a strange suggestion I know but there are a few couriers advertising on there.

Recently, I sent several items via Parcelforce 24 for £6.99 per package with insurance up to £150. So faster, cheaper and more insurance than Parcel2Go!

Thanks to those who recommended Pharos in this thread. I needed to ship an item today and found they had simple web booking (no account required) and sure enough UPS turned up and collected as promised.
