I think Russell Brand has walked straight out of the pages of Viz. Never thought much positive or negative about him on Big Brother, but on this he's rubbish.

I am surprised it has all run very well bearing in mind it is live (with a 30 second delay). Was expecting, and hoping, major cock ups.

Liam's voice is terrible.
He's been butchering their own tracks for years when done live. Listened to Familiar to Millions once and it's been in it's case ever since :gag:
Noel's far better doing them himself nowadays.

Well i thought they managed to pull it off this year. Brand was the best host for years, all the bands put on great performances (apart from Oasis who were dreadful) and the stage lights/effects were top quality, it ran smoothly, some big name presenters.

Yeah sure, it's all very MOR and safe and none of them are exactly my bands (but then the day that Bonnie Prince Billy wins best male act, Grizzly Bear best newcomers, Decemberists win best band, Joan as Policewoman best female and Comets on Fire best live act is probably the day the earth stops turning) but compare it to the Grammys and it was way more frothy and fun (like pop should be).

Couldn't understand Russell Brand giving the award to Oasis, usually its a contempory or a major influence on the awardee that gives the contribution award. Russell Brand giving it when he and Oasis clearly couldnt stand each other seemed most odd.

Was Ringo Starr not meant to be doing it?

I'm a big Oasis fan but I was shocked at Liams vocals last night.

However, his vocals haven't been that good since Knebworth.

The 'Familiar to Millions' live album is the when they started to go downhill, and at the time, this was put down to that particular gig being recorded the weekend that Patsy Kensit left him, and he had been hitting the bottle. However, his vocals have never really improved since.

Whatever people may think of him, or his signing style, you just have to watch/listen to his singing on the early 'By The Sea' concert, or the 'Be There Then' concert at Maine Road - his vocals were spot on in those earlier gigs. :notworthy

I have seen them live 3 times at Newcastle Arena, so I have also heard him proper 'Live' from '97 to '05.

As far as the band goes, they have always played well live - its just that now Liams vocals are letting them down.
