I'm sure we all have our own or other peoples horror stories to recall.
A friend bought some 'Sony' earphones and they are shocking fakes, not cheap to buy either.
Has anyone ever contacted Sony (or other company) to discuss the matter with them ?

I bought a fake "genuine" XBOX controller for £10. I couldn't tell it was fake until I got it; the sticker on the back was different, the cable was shorter and the joysticks weren't as fluid.
I bought a fake Deal or no Deal DVD game a couple of months ago, contacted ebay (as did a lot of people), the seller was gone within a couple of days.

Loads and loads of people are currently flogging fakes of the Sennheiser CX300 in ear headphones, same as being discussed on the bargain forums and apparently the quality of the fakes is terrible - easy to spot once you have the thing in your hand but difficult when the seller always tacks on a stock photo... Think headphones are being ripped off a lot at the mo - hear some high end Sonys are also getting the treatment.
Myself I got done on a copy of the latest series of Spooks a year ago - pirated DVD-Rs, cheap printed packaging nothing like original. Being a stupid trusting soul I sent them back for a refund and of course the seller "never received them". £15 quid down the drain and stupidly did not record delivery so not a leg to stand on. Since they were fake I should obviously have contacted Ebay and got him shut down - lesson learned...

Bought a copy of the burning on DVD, obvious fake, contacted seller who refunded straight away and told me he thought it was an original and that i could keep it as a gesture of goodwill, which i thought was nice of him

Yep - I got some wonky sennheiser CX300s ... I'd get better sound from polystyrene cups and string. I got a refund though.

I nearly bought some fake Sandisc Extreme III compact flash cards. They are extremely common on eBay. Luckily I realised before the items were sent, and persuaded the seller to nullify the transactions.
I bought a fake DVD off ebay once. Seller had sold loads of stuff, albeit not DVDs, all with great feedback so there was no suspicion. I bought advertised as genuine, and it was a horrendously badly done fake. He had just started running out of his other stock and had started selling fakes. I returned it and got a full refund, and set about informing the bidders on his dvds and getting all his other auctions closed down. He soon stopped.
CX300s, Threads on DVD.
Always make a claim AND leave negative feedback - too many people leave a positive just 'cos they get a refund.
I suspect a couple of imported Diesel t-shirts I've bought are fake, but I don't mind since I wouldn't know where to buy genuine ones the same.
bought some nokia earphones for me blower on there, turned out fake, didnt pay much for em in the first place so was not bothered, lasted about a week :)

Bought a fake DVD copy a while ago. When it arrived it looked as though his printer has nearly run out of ink while printing the sleave, the edge had been cut with blunt scissors and the sticker on the DVD was pealing off. :oh-hum:
Tried to contact, no longer has an account

Back in my days of being an ebay newbie, "sigh" , I purchased a couple of dodgy dvd's. I have to admit they were of an excellent quality, the only thing that gave them away was they were obviously dvd-r's (Taiyo Yuden though) and the printing on the discs was good but not great.
Contacted the seller, couldn't have been nicer or more prompt, refunded me and paid all the postal charges. He had a F/B of about 300, all positive. I guess that was down to his attitude towards customer service rather than his wonky gear which was all dvd's.

Just over a year ago I bought a boxset of the first four series of Red Dwarf which turned out to be fake. Contacted the seller who promptly gave me a refund providing I didn't leave negative feedback. Was going to leave him negative feedback but he became NARU'ed in the meantime.
Recently I bought a 2gig Q-Be which I soon discovered to be a fake when the headphone socket turned out to be the size beloved of Chinese pirates. Learned my lesson and bought the real thing instead online.

about 3 years ago i bought my lass a loui vitton purse, marked up as genuine, when we got it it looked very good but something looked wrong on the inside. I called the loui vitton shop and they told me how to tell the difference.
Low and behold it was a fake. I contacted the seller nothing so did paypal dispute. They only offered me 1/2 the cash back told them to shove it as this person was breaking the law by selling fakes. Paypal issued a full refund amd we kept the purse. lol

Remember this when buying items (mainly clothing) on eBay: Authentic does not mean Genuine. I bought a pair of Nike Air Jordan VI for £45 back in August of last year, thinking I'd got a bargain. Authentic was used all over the description, but on delivery of the boots it was ******* obvious that they were fake. I've read a lot of auction descriptions since, where authentic has been used and it's usually obvious that the item is dodgy.

I got a fake memorystick duo, got a refund, when I tried to warn other buyers someone asked me if I was sure it was a fake. I said I was so sure they could have it for £5, and they actually bought it!
Had some fake DVDs, as well

Would R0 anime boxsets be classed as fake and shouldn't be sold on ebay, i see loads on the auction site which are usually fitted on 3 discs where the originals usually come on 6 discs, i don't mind paying for them as i can't afford the originals and sometimes the packaging is excellent but is it illegal to sell these cheap anime boxsets?
Most of the R0 anime boxsets are chap HK presses, more often than not too theyre just fansubs put onto fancy discs/packaging.
The quality on these can vary tremendously.
Apparantly they get away with it in some far east countries due to a different/lack of copyright type laws.

I've bought fake dvds but as the tv series has never been released on dvd, i knew they would be fake anyway. it was the only way to watch the final season as sky deciced to not show it in the UK for some reason.
Not sure it counts as fake when you are clearly buying CDrs? i wasn't mislead as to what it was at any stage.

The OP probably meant when you've been deceived into buying goods you thought were "genuine" but turned out to be "fake".
Designer branded clothing are notorious for fakesters... I've been had on a few occasions buying Paul Smith, Versace & Hugo Boss stuff. Best advice is to only go for brands that are soley UK brands which don't attract the international fake dealers as much... eg. Ozwald Boateng, Charles Tyrwhitt, Thomas Pink etc. ;)

yes, thought so, just pointing out not all fake goods are necessarily a rip off.
i sold my cdrs back on ebay, the person buying them paid and was happy with them, ebay did cancel the listing and refund all fees though, which was nice and not sure what that achieved.
have looked now at the same item on ebay and no one is now selling it. perhaps as fox is gradually releasing the series on dvd, though currently on season 1.
