I have a set of Technics surround speakers that are wired up using a phono connector for each speaker. Is it possible to remove the phono plug on both of them so I could have the bare wire to connect up to my new amp? Or would I have to undo the back of the speaker and rewire it?
Thanks in advance:)
:brickwall
It seems a bit weird that they are using phono connectors for a speaker connection. You should be able to get away with cutting the phono connector off and wiring them straight into the amps speaker terminal. Don't blame me if I'm wrong though.

Phil Im gonna be banging on your door:D
I might as well try this before rewiring it... Cheers for your help:)
Not sure where you are talking about chopping, but basically I am guessing you have;
Technics speakers with phono connector
Amp with binding post or spring clip connectors
Phono to Phono cables
If so, you can just chop the phono plug off one end of each cable and apply to the amp. Only snag is you will need to suss out the outer and inner core of the phono cable for - and + terminals.
Speakers with phono connectors hard wired are usually supplied with Pro Logic surround midi/hi-fi systems for ease of connection.
You should have no probs cutting of the phono to connect the bare wires to a amp, just make sure you know which is the positive and negative and check the wattage of the speakers to the output of the amp.
