My friend has just got a Sony DVP-NS300 and doesnt want to risk voiding the warranty by chipping it. He's seen a site on the net that claims it can make it multiregion without the use of chips or anything for £50. Obviously if there's a way to hack it for free then he'd be very grateful :)

you mean 'free' remote hacks? (http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/info/multiregion/hackable.asp). I think sony's are 'chip' only though.

I know that! Its just when the guy said he could make it multiregion without a chip it made me wonder. Sounds dodgy to me.

New Sony Players can be upgraded ( not necessarily RCE compatible though) by using a special "chipped" remote .... available to rent here

In fact Joober if you bring the player (by appointment only) I will upgrade it to auto region ( not necessarily RCE compatible though) for £40 ..... Halifax is not so far for you to travel now is it
