I'm doing a digital photography course and we have to find places where we can all meet and shoot at. Seems limiting during the cold evenings, but we still want to get out

What makes for a good pic in the evening?

Thanks

I personally like some of the shots on here of things like the Millenium Wheel, Thames\houses of parliament and millenium bridge in Newcastle etc.

As above, I took some of my favourite shots on a late night stroll down the Southbank, I find urban architecture looks great at night with a nice long exposure.

The moon.
Empty streets
Interesting light/shadow plays
Lit up buildings/trees
Roads with long exposure time

My biggest problem is getting the motivation to go out at night. I keep meaning to do some night photography but I just can't be bothered lol. I've still gotta shoot my local town at night.

What i'd really like to do is shoot some stuff at night that's only light up in the moonlight. I once saw a photo here of a wood gate on a 20 minute exposure. It looked fantastic, I can't remember who shot it now...but it was a couple years ago. The trouble with those shots is you need a lightsource to get the focus and then shoot.

I took this with a30 second exposure and an LED torch to "paint" the light on the tree. Bonus was the stars visible in the sky.

Intruders trespassing on your property.

Would make for a beautiful shot if you can get the head.

can't believe no-one has suggested some of the slightly less innocent nocturnal activities we may get upto which could make for some good shots? :p
