View Full Version : Toshiba SD210e Opinions (and Prices)
Chap at work is thinking about getting one, going to look for some reviews on the net now. Just wondering whose got one and what they like.
Also (if you don't mind) where did you buy from and how much did it set you back.
Cheers
Nearly bought this player to replace my Tosh SD100. Ended up going for the superior Pioneer DV444, great reviews everywhere. Glad I bought it's a great performer. around £199 inc delivery Black or Silver.
try upgrade heaven or www.dvdmagic.net
I have one and very pleased with it I am. Check here (http://www.homecinemachoice.com/testbench/index.html) for favourable reviews. Pioneer DV444 is a good alternative though but as far as I am concerned not 'superior'.
Indeed, I'd say the 210 is definately on a par with the 444/545 through RGB scart. It's slightly cheaper, but has a noisier transport.
However, through component the 210 will knock spots off any DVD player under £400 including the 444. If he has a Toshiba TV with component, definately get the 210.

I have this player too. Very pleased with it.
Very good performer.....
although I have noticed one slightly annoying problem. - When playing R1 DVDs there seems to be quite alot of shimmer on the screen especially if a movie has really bright colours. When playing R2 DVDs there isno problem whatsoever, the picture is crystal clear.
I view my movies on a Tosh 28W8DBA and use an IXOS RGB scart cable - connected to the RGB output of course.
I used to have a Philips 701 (budget) player and a Sharp 24" TV and never noticed any picture problems with R1 movies.
Has anyone else noticed this 'shimmer' problem with their player or TV?
