Anyone bought anything from Ebay Germany?

Looking at something and emailed the seller in English and thanks to google German. Now the seller got back to me and said this -

"Vorkasse by transfer would like to me" now what is this searched for it and looks like everyone in Germany uses it. Has anyone here used it? if so can you help with -

What is it?
And is it any good?

Think it's the German equivalent of a BACS transfer.

I have bought a couple of things from German ebayers with no problems. First one was a bank transfer in euros from a Spanish account and the recent one was via Paypal with me picking up the fees.

I just used the feedback as I would for any purchase.

If you don't have a euro bank account anywhere, it is not cheap to transfer euros as you genreally get hit by a lousy exchange rate and then the fees on top of that.

If your credit card gives a fair exchange rate (I use Nationwide who are very good) then offering to pay the paypal fees may be the cheapest option.

If it,s a bank transfer watch out for fees from your own bank got stung for about 12 pound charge from my bank but pay pal transactions no differant to here - just have to overcome language barrier, also check they are actually in germany have found a few based in bulgaria
