Ordered myself a GP2X and in preperation trying to draw up a list of the top retro games for the most emulated formats

I know its all subjective but could just do with a few pointers on which games are considered "must haves"

Things also to consider (for me anyway) are

i) I never owned a console until the original Playstation so all Snes games etc have really passed me by (although I have played the obvious like Mario etc)
ii) I really can not stand Japanese Console RPGs - strange considering I love RPGs and love games with turn based combat - its just something about the likes of FFVII and the like that leave me cold
iii) As above - I love me normal RPGS and turn based games

So if anyone could point me in the direction of say the top 10 games (bearing in mind my points above) I would be more than happy

Systems considering are

Mame
Snes
Megadrive
NeoGeo
Amiga
C64

Thanks in advance

Oh dear my memory is going. I used to love my amiga and played loads of games on it which were fantastic but I'm struggling to think of them all. I do remember playing Elite, alien breed, project x, stuntcar, mercenary, damocles, cannon fodder, pinball fantasies, pinball dreams plus tons more I've forgotten the names of. On the snes you won't go wrong with mario and zelda games. I'm not a strategy type person but love megalomania which I think was on snes, megadrive and amiga.

Just found an interesting link;

 top link...I haven't got round to getting the GP2X yet, still 'thinking' about it - but that's a great link, I've just been buying amiga gear off ebay and have put a hard drive into an amiga 1200 and this link has the patchers for the hard drive installers....cool!

Don't forget that you won't have the choice of 100% of ROMS for certain platforms, particularly the Amiga and MAME.

You may wish to check the actual choice of working ROMS at http://wiki.gp2x.org/wiki/MAME and http://wiki.gp2x.org/wiki/UAE4all before you compile your must haves list. Plenty of my favourite Amiga games are unplayable on the UAE4All emulator.

Cheers for those

Seems some Cinemaware games work - thats me happy

And sensi and speedball 2 - blimey - I am happy

just the other platforms to sort
