I'd just buy the film for the film and forget about anything else. Personally I think watching it in the correct order or hearing a commentary would spoil my perspective on what takes place in the film. It's a film of great mystery and unanswered questions, so I think films like that are best left to your own imagination.

I agree, this is one film that really doesn't need a ton of extra's to do it justice. Just get it now, its a great film and thats what really matters.

I agree to an extent, but a directors commentary is too tempting for me...:D

I was lucky enough to see this at a preview screening / Q+A with Chris Nolan and his brother (who wrote the story), and asked him about the DVD there. He said he'd like to do a chronological version to show you, firstly, another side to the film (how it was essentially a horrible person being bounced back and forth by other miserable slimeballs), and also to demonstrate how it really wouldn't work backwards - how character arcs and the like only work when the film plays 'backwards' - something that becomes more apparent as you watch it in chronological order, and certain scenes stick out like a sore thumb...

In other words, back off the chronological feature! Sounds like a good idea to me. And I'm waiting for the special edition myself.

Well I've just ordered the R2 from Play earlier today (good price at £13.99)!

I missed this on the flicks and I've heard nothing but good things about it ever since, so I decided I've waited long enough and opted for the R2 - really want to see the film and can't be bothered with a special edition that will arrive gawd knows when!

I've managed to dodge any major spoilers (I think!) and will obviously avoid the 'chronological order' easter egg 'till I've seen the film a couple of times - but I do think this feature sounds like an interesting addition.

If someone else has already asked this, i must have missed it.
But does anyone know why the R2 dvd has the following crawl on the back
"THE VIEWS EXPRESSED IN THE INTERVIEWS AND COMMENTARY ARE SOLELY THOSE OF THE INDIVIDUALS..."
err....."commentary"

The R1 has now been confirmed for a May 21st release but it is now a 2 DISC set - this has to be the defintive version with everything we want on it??!?!

Standard disclaimer found on a lot of DVD's. Since its standard text, it says nothing about whether a commentary is actually present or not.

im gonna get the SE, even if a commentary may spoil it.

I agree with some of the above posts - just get the dvd for the film and then enjoy tying yourself up in knots trying to work out how everything fits together.

I watched it twice when I rented it and came up with two slightly different conclusions as to what had gone on. I'm still not sure.

Don't do that ... I bought it for a fiver retail in HK only to find out it has sound encoding problems. it is in DD5.1 but the sound only comes out of the left right front speakers ie stereo!

Personally I found the 'chronological' version very useful in establishing certain story elements within the story arc & how they related to others.
In all honesty though you only need to fast forward through it rather than watch it in it's own right.

I already did unfortunatly this was before it was found out about the sound problems, however I still stand by that statement becuase the R3 with no extras was bought as a 'filler' until the R1 special edition came out.

I thought the film was excellent either way round.
