View Full Version : Spiderman Cancelled?
I just watched gamespad on bravo and during a news item about games that had been cancelled after September the 11th they mentioned that Spiderman II - Electro was cancelled and so was the film which cost £100m dollars.
I can't believe this as it wasn't long ago the last trailer came out, anyone heard anything on this?
Well I somehow doubt the both of those stories - the game is in stores and the latest trailer is being shown with LOTR currently.
Just write off that rumour as total nonsense!

I thought they'd delayed the release so they could remove a scene with them in or so everyone round was discussing a few months back. Maybe they just picked up on that and twisted it.

Nonsense - anyone who feels uncomfortable or upset by images of the WTC will almost certainly have heard about the film, and can therefore avoid it.
You have to remember the film industry is America at its most corporate - I shake my head at the thought that the 'Tribute to Heroes' celebrity telethon had 30% of the funds going to administration, with 70% to the charity.

The actual quote (snatched from DVDJournal.com):
"It was easy to do and it was fun. We just wanted to do something. I think the people that we talked to on the phone thought that all the money was going to charity. My guess would be that if 90 percent was going to the people and 10 percent to administration no one would complain. If it was 80/20 some would complain, but around 70/30 is a bit much. In the future I won't be doing these until I know all the money is going to the people."
— Kurt Russell, expressing disappointment over the allocation of funds raised by the "Tribute to Heroes" telethon.
I suspect the program may have been a repeat.

I know the show there on about. It was originaly broadcast just after Sept 11th when every thing was beeing cancelled left right and center. Bravo being Bravo must have repeated the show 4 times a week since then.
The only thing Spider man releated that got changed was the teaser trailer.
from all reports the WTC trailer was a specially shot teaser with none of the scenes actually appearing in the film itself. It comes out on 10.05.02

It's definitely released in the UK on May 11th (day after my B'day and a 5 days before Attack of the Clones-what a good week!)
Yeah this news was on the same week as TWTC so I doubt this film is cancelled as the hype is starting to heat up now with all of those excellent trailers.
Gamepad is the televisual equivalent of "The Star" - and the rumour that Spiderman had been cancelled is just beyond belief.
They (Gamepad) do not know what they are talking about half the time, but I do find myself coming back time after time to look at Violets' ever growing Boobies:nuts:

Well it can't be true because I got an email from the Odeon Cinema chain with the following in it
For comic book fans, the eagerly awaited Spiderman swings onto
screens on May 10th. Starring Toby Maguire as Peter Parker and John
Malkovich as his archenemy the Green Goblin, news on this film
suggests it will definitely be just one of this year's blockbusters!
So according to my local cinema its coming out on May 10th which doesn't sound like its being cancelled.

I thought it had a Bond like mini film to start, which featured the twin towers. I was under the impression it was this that was re-made.
