Hi,
I have a works mobile, which i use for personal in the UK- however off to the US (on Sat) and need to be able to call and be called by my wife (as i'm off skiing and she's off baby sitting)..
Any idea which providers will allow international calls without some ridicuous deposit on a PAYG sim? Phone isn't locked, so i can use any provider (except 3)..

Can't see why any of them would need a deposit for PAYG - if you've got no credit the call will just end.
That's certainly how it works with Orange PAYG anyway

I'd agree with that, when I was out in Chicago last year my PAYG phone worked fine untill the credit ran out.
Can you not take your company phone and get your wife to call you on it? you could allways claim that you might be needed when your out there.....

Cheers - i've opted for a t-mobile PAYG sim as it has the cheapest call rates.

They removed roaming for all our phones to save costs - plus incoming calls are charged for too... Safer to leave it at home, cos then they can't ring me (and believe me I would get calls!!)

If receiving calls a lot it's probably cheaper to rent a phone over there or try and get a PAYG sim locally (however I think US have different stuff and don't use sims like we do, plus you might need to be a US resident to register it anyway).
If you use a UK phone in US, remember you need at least a tri-band phone.
Might I suggest you Google the words "Jolt" and "SIM" as a possible solution to your needs.
Only found out about these myself yesterday so I'm guessing it's too late for you.
