I would like to buy One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and Dog Day Afternoon on DVD.
I know WB's (I think) have released both, but the picture quality is supposed to be really poor and there are no extras on either disk. Being early WB releases they are probably double sided as well. For these reasons I refuse to buy them, even though you can get them cheap on Play247.
So was wondering if anyone knows if these two films are going to get a decent release on DVD anytime in the near future?

Neither are particularly good quality mate but I don't think either are due a re-release yet.

I've got Dog Day & it's average at best (great film though) and it's not a flipper.

A special edition of "Cuckoo's Nest" is due to be released in R1 (at least) during 2002. Special features have not been announced yet but are likely to include the commentary and documentary from the previous laserdisc release.

You can pick up Dog Day Afternoon for about £8 in Australia and it doesn't come in a snapper case. Picture quality is fairly decent from what I can recall, so it's worth buying.

I am going to review the R2 "Dog Day Afternoon" for DVD Times when I get chance. Great film indeed and not all that bad a DVD once you accept it's very basic. For the £7.99 it's now retailing at, it's not bad value and there is no re-release in prospect at present.

I got OFOTCN from HMV. The picture quality was really bad, so I tried another and that was the same so I gave up and got my money back.

I did the same as you, I consider this to be the best film I've ever seen but I wasn't making do with that picture quality! It goes without saying I can't wait for the SE!
