I called NTL to see about getting a free box as per the other thread (which apparently you can only do if you don't have a tv package with them already), then asked if they could do me a deal on 10Mbit. She said I could have it for the same price as my 4Mbit for the next 12 months. So worth a go if you're on 4Mbit and want more for the same money.

diydestruction has already mentioned this.

NTL Telewest will price match with talktalk's equivalent package for £22.99 for 10mbit and talk unlimited 24.

Do you think its worth phoning if I only have the broadband?

Only been with then for 4 months on the 4mbit package

always worth a try but you aren't going to cancel since you are tied in (for 12 months?) surely since you are a new customer.

I'm not capped on 10mb

This has already been discussed here (http://www.thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=381185&highlight=retentions) and here (http://www.thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=421427&highlight=retentions)

Might be worth reading if you are going to try to get a better deal

I told them that I could get free broadband with my orange mobile contract so they gave me a tenner off for 12 months but I am going to try and get them to match the talk talk deal now

DOes Azureus and Bittorrent work ok on NTL. I`m thinking of changing from BT as it seems to be getting unreliable.

Typical Call desk inconsistancies,

Called them up they knew nothing about this offer, so no upgrade for me. :brickwall

We have 2Mbit at the moment, any offers available for that or do you have to be on 4mbit?

I'm on 2Mbit and after phoning retentions last week got em to drop the price to £9.99 and they also halfed my telephone line rental as well. You have to speak to retentions if you want the best deals. I imagine I could have pushed em harder, this was their first offer after I told em I saw Sky's offer and was considering it.

Whats the number for retentions?

Did you get a speed increase as well Jim?

JimDriver2
15-01-2007, 13:04
No didn't get the speed increase, like I said could have pushed for it but couldn't be bothered to do what seemed like a long protracted haggling.

Retentions is an option when you phone CS. Listed as "if you're thinking of leaving..."

'Gonna try getting them to match talktalk or Sky, ive been with them for ages and have had 10 meg since it was launched. I also have the phone line and am paying £35 for the internet alone. Problem being the account is in my girlfriends name and whenever i talk to them they want to speak to her.
I have sky and am really thinking about going with them but its a lot of hassle getting a BT line re-installed. I tried once and they never turned up on the installation day!

When I called retentions this morning initially they told me the best they could do was to offer me 10MB at half its usual price of £17.49 plus an all-inclusive telephone bundle for £11.00 (this being a significant improvement on my current package that totals out at about £50pm). They sorted the speed increase out and then when they looked at the phone deals they said, oh there is an additional discount available here that's not on the first screen, and then gave me another £6.50 off, so £21.99 is now my monthly bill.

Phoned them up, they didnt give me any kind of deals so i told 'em to cancel it.

I phoned looking for a price reduction from my current £50.50 per month (line rental, Talk Unlimited and 4mb Broadband). Wouldn't increase the broadband speed but got a deal of £19.99 for three months which includes free caller display. That's a saving of £90 over the three months!

There are new deals coming out in February. Asked if they were for new customers only and was told existing customers would probably be eligible as well if they ask.

Just phoned up NTL and am now on 10Mbit broadband with telephone line rental (no call packages) for the grand sum of £23 per month. Mentioned Talk Talk to try to get a better deal, but he knew aswell as I did that my distance from the exchange would limit my download speed to 2-3Mbits.

Wait on

Talk Talk 3 International is where you get inclusive international calls to 28 countries including the USA (also mobiles) talk for 70 mins for free. If I add on free broadband then its

£9.99 -Talk 3 international
£11.00 -Line Rental
£0.00 - 8mb broadband

£20.99 all in not £21.99 or have I missed something?

Does NTL have anything to match that?
