I have the Godfather five-disc box set.

Is it my player or are there no subtitles for the italien bits? Ah dunno-a wha they a-say! Gabeesh?

I suspect it might be my player, as i cannot get the subtitles to work at all.

I would have thought subtitles would have come up for the foreign language bits regardless of the DVD setup options.

Any thoughts?

Cheers.

I get this as well - though only on The Godfather, not on Godfather II! And also only on some scenes, and even then it changes each time I watch it!

I can only think its my player (Sony) as I've had a few problems with subtitles - chiefly Goldeneye where I couldnt stop Liz Hurley being subtitled in Czech on the documentary (possibly an improvement...). Both discs played fine on my PC and as its minor, I decided to live with it.

Looks like I might have to learn Italien then.

Watched GF for the first time ever yesterday! I noticed the same thing (was using PS2) with the subs. Very odd. Did anyone see the image of the womens face on screen right near the end? I read it in this months DVD Review and thought it would be a really small, hard to spot thing but oh no. If you go to the funeral scene at the end, wait until Michael stands up and look at the right of the screen. There is a massive ghostly image of a womens face in a very odd red/orange light. Everytime it cuts back to that camera angel afterwards you can just see it faintly and then on another shot right towards the end of that whole scene you can still just make it out angain. Very odd indeed!

Subtitles - Thankfully my player defaults to the italian only subs when i watch Godfather. If yours doesn't you need to select subtitle track 8. You will then get subs for all the Italian bits apart from the bit with Michael Corleone in the restaurant. (Which isn't suppossed to be subtitled)

SilverPenguin - It's pretty freaky isn't it??. I had also read about it but had forgotten all about it when i got round to watching it. It's very alarming when you first see it. My only explanation as to what it could be is somehow an extra has been filmed. Probably some technical goof. She does look as if she is crying which is my only reasoning for it. Perhaps it's some shadow or what not cast over the camera.

Very cool though:nuts: :D

The Ghostly image is simply a reflection of one of the mourners that was caught in the camera lens and reflected onto the lens.

Thats what I thought as well but in the shot that shows them walking out of the cemetary you can still just make out part of the face, its very faint but you can def see it mainly due to the colour. So it cant be a reflection of a mourner, can it?

Robby, its damn freaky! Mainly as I wasn't expecting it to be so in-your-face!

I expect there is a very easy explanation but its def not a reflection of someone on set (not infront of the camera anyway). Maybe its an image from editing? Cant see how though?!
