Yeah, an absolutely fantastic show. Once you get into this, everything else starts to pale in comparison.
The wait for the final season is going to be hell.
Without being spoilerific can someone that's seen these already tell me if McNulty is a regular this season? Along with Omar he's the best character on the show IMHO.
I don't suppose they're repeating S3 in the lead up? I've got in on pre-order, but I don't think it's released until about the same time as this starts.
Great stuff. Without doubt, the finest TV show about at the moment. :notworthy

He's hardly in it

Although he's not in season 4 much, it looks like he'll play a bigger part in season 5.

I didn't enjoy season 4 much, it really felt like it was just a filler season to pave the way for season 5.
Must admit I wasn't overly interested in the Tommy Carcetti character in S3 and the related political stuff so I'm hoping there isn't a whole lot more of that in S4 (or if there is that it's more involving at least).

I've only seen Ep1 of S4, and if that's anything to go by, you will be disappointed
I enjoyed it, but S2 is still the best season

I'm still undecided on who puts on the best yank accent: McNulty, Stringer Bell or Carcetti.

Christ I had no idea Carcetti was played by that guy from Queer As Folk!

 Ya its a strange one. The Mayor of Baltimore giving a rimjob.

Season 2 was probably my least favourite. I don't think the docks characters clicked with me like the Barksdale and Stanfield gangs did. I still enjoyed the season though.

Nicely put  . What is it with all these British actors playing major roles in The Wire? You'd think that with authenticity being a high priority they wouldn't risk a dodgy accent.

I loved S2. Ep 11 contained my favourite scene in the entire show. Between Ziggy & Frank Sobotka. "Im tired, tired of being the punchline to every joke". Brilliant writing, brilliant characters.
Seen 5 episodes of S4 so far and have to say I'm really not feeling it so far. It's still watchable but the genius of S1, S2 and S3 is sadly missing.
Here's hoping it picks up I guess.

Oh dear :(
This is supposed to be a cop show essentially - after all it is still called The Wire innit?! ;)
Season 2 was my favourite, then S1, then S3.

It evolved into something so much better though. S4 is fantastic stuff. As good if not better than the other seasons imo.
All the mayor stuff this season was originally destined for a spin off show that ultimately never got produced called 'The Hall' or something. Personally I think it works well within the show, especially as all the stories are drawn together. In fact, I think this season was so good that it's bumped The Wire into the top spot as my favourite show of all time.
Noooooooooooooooooooo.... after reading the s4 spoilers thread I checked my final episode of S4 and it cuts off after 55 mins.
So now I'm trapped halfway through the season knowing that when I get to the final episode of S4 I won't see the final 20 mins or so.

My final ep of S4 was perfect. 70 something minutes long.

*sobs silently in a corner*
Now I'm trapped halfway through season 4, looks like I'm waiting until the final episode airs in the UK.
Ahhh! I'd better get watching Season 3 sharpish! Just a couple of weeks to go! Can't believe I've not caught up yet! I am hopeless!
Also I must add that it's very good of HBO/Warner to get the UK dvd set out the week before Season 4 prems on FX UK! Nice planning.
Whoops, just realised I'm missing the first episode of this cos I'm watching Life On Mars........
It's repeated at 02:15 tho - thank the lords of unmissable telly for that!
A little underwhelmed by that first episode but then I'm not used to watching just one ep and having to wait a week for another - great to see McNulty and co again tho!
Best bit was the interaction between Carver and Bodie
