View Full Version : Gears of war locking on me
I got Gears of War for crimbo, but it has just started locking at the same point.
Has anyone else had problems?
I've looked at the disc and there is no scratches as it's new. There is a strange second marked ring on it about a centimeter in. Is this normal or do I have a duff disc?
I've read the support bumph and it tells me to try deleting the saved games and I'm loathe to do that. Will probably take it back in the morning. As wifey bought it from Woolworths.
Just thought I'd ask before fighting my way throught the sales.

Sounds like a knackered CD, to me, m8e - if the 'second ring' looks recent, then your machine has caused it.
I only got the 360 at Xmas so it might have done it. I have placed it on its side so was wondering is it might not be 100% straight, causing the disc to rub. Only I've never heard of that happening?
Will exchange the disc today. I also have a second game now so will spend most of today playing it to see if the same thing happens.
My 360 marks my GoW disc a lot.
I get a dirty disc error message and I need to give the disc a good rub to get the mark off.
I know that the 360 tends to mark disks when its vertical, i had to take my sons Lego Star Wars 2 back on the very day we bought the machine as it had scratched the disk surface to death. its not happened since though. We originally had the unit verticaly, now we have it horizontally and it has not happened.
GoW was freezing on me too, took a good few wipes to get the disc clean again and had no problems since :)

Okay, point to note - NEVER NEVER EVER move the 360 about, and especially from vertical to horizontal while there's a disc inside and/or while it's on and the disc is spinning, as it's that movement which has scratched your disc up.
There are plenty of videos knocking around showing how the 360 actively eats discs, but here's a tutorial for you.
