Just upgraded to my first amp and surround sound speakers and I'm having a terrible time keeping everything tidy round the back of my telly! :(

Anyone got any ideas or SPECIAL cables hints/tips etc. to lessen the tangled mess!!
No matter how I try and keep it all tidy one cable at a time there is a total MESS of wires round the back!

I know it should be out of sight out of mind etc but there just doesn't seem to be enough room behind my telly, vcr, dvd player, amp and Ps2 for all the scart leads optical leads phono's subwoofer leads speaker wires etc. etc. etc.

Any suggestions??

Cheers Baps but I was wondering if there was actually something on the market especially for the job?

Something like a "wiring loom" idea like they have on cars but then I guess this would make it all subject to interference??

An all in one cable would be perfect but i guess this is out of the question because everyones setup is different!

Oh well looks like the cable ties/tie wraps are coming out!!! :p

Ikea do cabling looms to do the job you require.

I have given up on mine, as there is so many wires that the looms would look a mess. I am now seriously considering a mirror at the back of my AV cabinet to make it look like the wires were never there.

same here :) with all the power/speaker/scart/coaxial cables etc behind my cabinet I'm surprised I get any sound and picture at all (with all the interference that might be going on). My only attempt to sort it out was to make my own short scart cable (which worked after an hour of burning my fingers with solder :( )

No, no, no! You mustn't tidy your cables up in neat little bundles. The worst thing you can do is to put cables together if there's a mix of mains, high level (e.g. speaker) and signal (input) cables.

Ideally keep them all separate. At least keep each group apart from the others, but if they must come into proximity with each other, then only if they cross - definitely not running side-by-side.

I don't like how it looks, either (and Mrs Neon definitely doesn't), but we all have to make sacrifices for clean audio.
