Having just watched Amélie on DVD (for the sixth time now  ), I've just realised how similar elements of it are very similar to Three Colours: Blue... It's simply astonishing... It's almost like Amélie is a US remake of the Kieslowski film (which is making me start to dislike Amélie now ;) )
but look at this
Amélie works in a café = Julie spends a lot of the film in one
Amélie lives by herself in Paris and has little contact with the outside world = Julie does too
Amélie finds it hard to make contact with the man she loves as she is scared of confronting reality = julie rejects the man who loves him as she's seeking her "liberté"
the Male lead works in a porn shop = the second female lead works as a stripper in Pigalle (OK not exactly the same but you get the idea)
The film ends with a look at all that Amélie has done around her = the film ends with a look at all the people that Julie has touched...
Both Amélie and Julie have a strange relationship with their only parent
Both Tautou and Binoche have a similar physique down to their hairstyle...
There's some more stuff that I can't remember right now but am I the first to have thought about this? or am I really just clutching at straws?
