Product Info (http://ideawins.com/productinfo.html)
Might want to take note of the following; aren't sure of the specifics of how UK and US accounting differ but sure they do, so beware if planning to use this version for your business.
Microsoft Office Accounting Express 2007 is currently available within the USA only. At this stage, no plans exist for international availability of the product, with the exception of the UK. In May 2006, Microsoft Offer Accounting 2007 (UK version) entered Beta testing in the UK with a targeted set of customers and partners. Once Beta testing is completed and the results have been fully reviewed, further updates will become available on the UK product launch. We anticipate having these updates in the first half of calendar year 2007.

CNET gives it an OK review, but US software won't handle VAT and probably won't integrate with UK banks or Tax software.
My guess would be that the hassles of using software designed for the USA is likely to outweigh the saving over a copy of somethign like quickbooks.

Apologies for the possible dodgy post!!! Didn't see it was USA version only, strange how M$ sent me the email when they know i am UK based!!
I downloaded it. Have not tried it yet but as a book-keeper I will give it a go.
Without VAT handling its going to be pretty useless for anyone vat registered through, however maybe of use to small traders not vat registered - however a well set up spreadsheet can probably do the same.

If you want a uk based one that does vat etc then Turbocash is a decent open source alternative to Sage/Quicken. A few of my accountant friends are using it in preference to Sage now.
