Bought myself a shiny Xbox 360 for Christmas, love a nice driving game so I was wondering what you gamers might recommend.

I prefer the more 'arcade' style racer a-la Burnout-Revenge, I'm also looking at Project Gotham Racer and Test Drive Unlimited.

Call be Mr Chav, but I love NFS Most Wanted. Its free form sort of thing, where you can just drive about looking for races and stuff and put stripes on your car if you want to. Not sure about Carbon, not tried it, I think there's a demo somewhere on live. PGR3 I found waaaaay to serious about itself and I never really got past the opening stages.

Not tried TDU.

the rubber band AI makes Most Wanted really annoying in the later races.

There is demos for all games (apart from ridge racer I think) which is the best way to try out the games

If you like the free form nature of Need for Speed: Most Wanted you'll be right at home with Test Drive Unlimited KRW.

Only £17-99 at play (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://clkuk.tradedoubler.com/click?p(20047)a(60823)g(606309)url(http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/GENBRW/3-/666834/Need_For_Speed_Most_Wanted/Product.html)), quite tempting.

Just noticed that, looks like a toss up between those two games then at that price.

Judging by the reviews on Amazon I think I'll plug for NFS, it got glowing reviews with an average of just under 5 stars.

Yeah, gonna go for that one next. I can only have one racing game on the go at a time, or I get all confused.

NFS: Most Wanted is great, definately worth getting, Test Drive is excellent, took me a few hours to get used to the handling but didnt stop playing for weeks, only 2 races to go lol. Don`t use the demo for NFS: Carbon as a basis for the full game, i played the demo and flat out refused to get the game, recently played the full game and bought it, completely hooked now, its so different to the demo.

Test drive unlimited is only £34.99, if you like the freedom of Need for speed then you'll love this. Good price for high street too, was £50 only last week.

For pure arcade fun Ridge Racer is top notch, although I much prefer Project Gotham Racing (tis a bit more realistic).

cant wait for sega rally next year!! one thing we're really missing out on i think is good arcade racers. Forza wil lbe far too sim like for me to get much enjoyment out of it.

Burnout revenge - the online scene is really good for it too....

For me its PGR 3. The offline is great with loads of events. Online is great as you get to race people from all over.
The driving style is really good and far more responsive than other games. I got the demo for NFS and I didn't like it at all.

Best thing to do is get xbox live and download the demos of all the driving games and give them a go.

I own PGR3, Ridge Racer 6 and Test Drive Unlimited and for me the best by a mile has to be Test Drive Unlimited.

It's got massive scope and is a complete joy to play. I love the fact that I can just drive around for ages without having to worry about lap times learning the course layout etc etc. That's all there for when I do want it but there are times when I just want to chill out listening to custom soundtracks.

I do like PGR3 & RR6 and I think there's definitely room for all 3 in any collection.
