While I'm at it, does anyone know if the R2 Season 2 set was ever replaced with the 'new' packaging used on Season 3 (with the easy slip pockets)?

richie, i think they have replaced the packaging.

although my S2 doesn't have the same note on the packaging as S3 or angel stating it won't damage the disks, it's identical

According to the reviews, the R1 packaging it's almost identical to the R2, but with a minor (if noticeable) difference: it opens like standard digipaks (a la X-Files) instead of in "cross-shape" like R2 does.

Aws for the discs themselves, the USA edition doesn't carry the episode guide leaflet, and doesn't include the Hepburn "I Quit" video either, but, on the other hand, it has some brief intros by Joss Whedon himself, talking on camera about some of his favourite episodes (four or five or them).

I spoke to Catherine Freeman at Fox today and she told me that re-released R2 Season 2 doesn't have the protective slip pockets. They are still the same as when originally released. She says only Season 3 onwards has the 're-designed' pockets.
How dumb is that?
