just wondering if anyone takes off their speaker grilles??? Supposedly it makes a difference but I only hear a minimal better quality. just wanted other peoples thoughts on this.

Plus, does ur speaker get really dusty if u keep them off.

Mrs Neon has her way.

They stay on.

A correctly designed speaker should not sound better with the grills off.

With 2 cats in the house? They stay on, no contest.

I'm commando on the speaker grills for no other reason than they look nicer with them off :) However, my old M74's looked better with them on.

I've never been able to hear any difference either way.

Keep `em on. :D
According to the manual, the Mordaunt-Short MS5.20, sounds better with `em on. Can`t be arsed to take `em off to find out.

Here, Here. My cat loves those claw sized holes in the speaker grills but don't like them nasty rubber and plastic vibraty things, oh, no. So off they stay to avoid any kitty attention.

Anyways, they sound and look better with the grills off and even Mrs Phill agrees.

I tend to go through phases. I'll put them on and think that they look better, than a couple of months later change my mind and take them off again! I've gone through this loads of times now and still can't decide what I prefer!

Same here, I was just going to get rid of the cat :D but the missis objected so the grilles all came off.

I keep mine on on my Monitor Audio floorstanders due to their gold woofers.

They look real cool in their wood finish but the reflections I get off the woofers at night when watching a movie is distracting so I keep them on.

There's hardly any difference in sound with them on or off anyway.

Keep my grills on as I know I'd just fall over when ****** and but my fist through the speaker. My Kef Q30's have quite strong grills which stop me from damaging the cones when drunk

Mine stay on, even though both me and the mrs prefer them off (beech B&W 603s with the lovely gold kevlar drivers). One of my mates had his tweeter ruined by an inquisitive child (who's parents never even apologised  ).

Being as we have a little 'un (who is very good with hi-fi - plays his own dvd's etc - he's nearly 4) we have a lot of little people running around the house on occasion. and it's better to be safe than sorry!
