so I've heard that R1 is defo the way to go for these babies, but can anyone recommend where to get them from?
having looked at play and ********* the R1 release is 10 quid more and I was hoping to pay less than the 60 notes ********* are looking for. anyone know a reputable retailer where I can get em both for under a ton?
anyone know when S3 is due on dvd?
and how come sopranos is out on dvd in R1 and yet there is no sign of a R1 Buffy/Angel (which presumeably would be w/s)? I heard there is a rule in the US preventing tv shows being released to close to the airing date on tv, but this sounds like crap to me since sopranos is newer than buffy, no?
anyone?

Get them from www.absound.ca around £40, although I think mods will be moving this to the Supplier Forum :D

Sopranos isn't affected because it is shown on the cable channel HBO and not networked.

Where have you been the last few months? Buffy Season 1 (R1) is out on January 15th 2002 and given Buffy was not filmed for widescreen broadcasting until season 4, it'll be 4:3 as with the R2/R4 editions. Angel has yet to be announced in R1, and wouldn't expect it to appear for a fair while yet.

Be aware of the customs risk then before ordering. Some have got through unscathed, others haven't. :(

so I just went to order these and looked that it is $188 including $21 shipping. That's canadian dollars. Anyone know the maths? and at a wopping 980 grams will the customs bods be wanting some of my hard earned cash as well?

Hello fellow Reading dweller, you could ask them to mark it down as a lower value so you don't get hit or ask them to send them seperately.

It currently works out to be £81.88 using the currency converter at www.xe.net/ucc/
I ordered the first series from here along with a few other single discs and asked them to 'devalue' the package, i had no problems with customs and the discs arrived very quickly. It's got to be worth the risk though as these are very good prices even with customs charge added on.:)
yup - Absound is a very good price, even if you add some on top for a customs charge. Of course, get away with it and it's even better!
I did get hit on The Soprano's First Season from Absound, but it was still fairly comparable to the price DVDBoxOffice wanted, which would avoid any extra charges - didn't lose anything really, but then again didn't gain the extra bargain-licious price either!
