Region 4 Discs?

Can anyone tell me if all region 4 discs play on a player locked to region 2? My parents have that terrible little aiwa player and I've tried a couple of discs, they seem to work fine but I'm about to order a few for them so I just thought I would ask if that was a coincidence or whether they actually do.

Simply put, no. Some do, some don't. The reviews on MichaelDs R4 Site (http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/) list whether a disc is coded for R2 as well as R4.

Some R4 discs are dual coded to R2 and R4, but not all.
