View Full Version : (Re)visiting last gen games.

Have lots & lots of games sitting around for the last gen machines, thought I'd play through them all before I even thinks about getting me a new console.

So; Wave Race on the GC is first up - it is hard!

Not a big fan of 'racing' games but this is good fun, never had it on the N64 so this is a first for me. Just done the 'Normal' championship run fairly easily but the 'Hard' one, for a change, IS hard.

Anyone got any good jetskiing tips seeing as all the old threads been deleted?

For me it was 'try, try, try again', even on the N64 the later stages were bloody hard, classic game though hope its 'Wii Bound'

Good Luck

Have to admit that I played the N64 version of Waverace far more than the Cube version.

I've got wy too many games to play from the previous generation. I'd love to finish Shadow of the Colossus and Zelda Windwaker but doubt I ever will. :( Haven't even opened Okami and played about 15 mins of Company of Heroes on PC

Oh, and really should make a point of finishing RE4.

'Proper' gaming then :D

Ono - sort. It. Out. Not finishing RE4 is a gaming crime my man.

Definately finish RE4!

I also didn't get round to finishing Wind Waker. I might pick it up again and play it on the Wii.

Actually, I missed one.

Game I'd really like to finish is Gradius V.

I wanted to finish RE4 before the Wii came out, but I've only just got to the second disc...

I deleted my 20ish hour Zelda save when I stuck a JPN disc into my GC by mistake :help:

It's my 'Christmas RPG' to get through this year.

Just need to get through Waverace first.

Or fling it out the window!

2nd disc isn't as long as the first. But I doubt you will finish it in just over an hour ;)

I've got GTA:VC Stories, Psychonaunts, Metal Gear Solid 3 to go through on my PS2, but Oblivion is still preventing me anything else.

And in 10 hours I'll have my Wii.

Yeah I just did Psychonauts before Waverace.

Great game but I found my interest waining towards the end.

And there's a level that made me feel really, really, nauseous!

By coincidence I just started replaying Prince Of Persia: Sands of Time on the GC.
Graphics looks like iscoles formations in parts but I can't think of many things that play as wonderfully as it does.

The trap and fighting mechanics are still excellent.

You haven't finished RE4 or SOTC???? Good grief what have you been doing with your life ;)

My problems are Pro Evo and work :(

Did manage to complete Gears of War last week - but that is a very short game.

Put the Pro Evo down.

Hard I know :D

But all that videogaming goodness sitting on the shelf just looking pretty....

POP: SOT. One of my favourite games methinks, what did they do to the follow up?!

I really enjoyed the N64 version of WaveRace, which was a surprise since those games don't normally appeal - same effect with Pilotwings actually. Never played the GC version though.

this thread has reminded me that I never got through two GC games that I was really enjoying - Body Harvest, and Shadowman. I think I got stuck in a difficult section on each, and then just never carried on. Since it's been a while now, my interest would be renewed, although I'd probably have to start Shadowman again, just to get back into it.

I missed out on Xbox stuff as I am a one console man, and was loyal to my PS2, so am going back over that now I've a 360. Currently enjoying KOTOR :dork:

.

Hell yeah, Waverace, BlastCorps, and P.Wings are damn rock on the final stages, the strange thing is though that after the hours it takes to final do a level you go back and do it with ease months later !!

I still have to finish Zelda Windwaker and the version of Ocarina of Time that came with it. I also picked up Pimkin cheap and only played about 20 mins of it :( Don't even talk to me about the DVDs I got for Xmas 2 years ago and haven't watched yet :brickwall

The Mexico style one with the raging bull? Me too.

Playing through 'Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines' at the moment. Fantastic game that should have got more attention. Plays like a cross between Deus Ex 2 and a really good game. Basically it's DX2 with vampires and done better.

hey pete, will you ever be back on halo? getting a 360 for halo 3?

as for wave race - its awesome :D

i have loads (probably ~25-50!) of old games that i'd like to play but i'm weak and the draw of the new stuff is too great :( except for 2d shooters - where i regularly play oldish games :)

I almost completed God of War before it became eBay bound. That just got ridiculously frustrating, same for the last level of Shadow of Colossus.

I'd like to re-play Wind Waker as i did complete that and thought it was superb but the sheer number of hours needed to dedicate to doing so is too much, they mentioned it in the retrospective and i'm not sure i can stomach all those seas levels again.

Waverace on GC was a toughy, i love racing games of any ilk but there was a definite knack to controling and winning at that game and i lacked neither.

I sometimes wish I could break a leg or something to be laid up at home and catch up on all my 'essential' tasks ;)

Recently dusted off my GC and completed Windwaker with the things unlocked from the 1st completion. (the unlocks are nothing special) Also completed ocarina of time (for the 1st time) which come with Windwaker.

Got Pimkin 2, Twin snakes and RE4 to play (didn't complete the first two)

before I go for the 360 I picked up a GC cheap from the classifieds here. Last one I had was 2 years ago. I am half way thru RE4 (never played before) and its prob. the best game I have played this year... I am also getting the new zelda and playing mario sunshine and getting mario kart double dash (really like mario kart DS).

I have been thru all the Xbox games that I want... so it all gets traded for a 360 around March time.. I tell you what the GC games hold better prices than xbox games.

I gave up, not been on Live for a loooong time - everytime I did go on all youse lot were on Live Arcade

Could not face (yet) another screaming 12 year old Amerikaan kid so promptly dispatched Halo and not touched it since.

No 360 for me, at least not yet.

Then there's the DC pile still-to-play

Oh, done 'Hard' on Wave Race finally; on to the next level. Still not touched the stunt section yet.

My DC is packed in the loft these days.

Would love to get Samba out again but Wii can't be arsed to climb up there.

One of these days I will get round to properly playing the GTA Trilogy. Got the Xbox versions to play on my 360. Played a bit of III and SA. But would love to play more of them.

there's still the odd "organised" game on a sunday :)

i'd like to play through shenmue 1/2 again too but its just the time, and the added disapointment at the end as there probably is never going to be a number 3 :(
