I see The Wicker Man is due for a region 2 release next month. Huzzah! Including a special edition. I read that the release be the longest available with an extra 15 minutes, but yet a length of 84 minutes is quoted.

Does anybody know more? Will it be the full version as recently seen on Channel 4? Tis a wonderful film and a full version release would be great!!

Also what is the difference with the box set and the normal?

The box edition contains 2 version of the film. The original cinema release, & the extended cut shown on C4.
The R2 also is far better than the R1 because it will contain a full commentary by both Woodwood & Lee which was recorded in Decemeber.
This makes the R2 box version by far the best version available, which is quite rare I know. ;)

This release has now been delayed until April according to the R2 DVD Project and additionally it will only included the Extended Version of the film. The advantage as already pointed out is that there will be a commentary and I also noticed that the soundtrack will be Dolby Digital 5.1 so this beats the mono of the R1 Extended version.

The Region 2 has also got an Interview with Christopher Lee. http://www.blackstar.co.uk/ still list it for 25th February!

Are you sure your not getting confused with the standerd release ?.
Play still have it listed for feb as well.

DVD Street (http://www.dvdstreet.infront.co.uk/Show.jhtml?prod_id=17517562) also have the special edition down for release on the 25th of Feb.
