Blimey. Never thought Muse would get this popular, pretty bold move to go from arenas to a huge outdoor show like this. Bet it sells out though.
Are they really big enough for stadiums?
Even if this does 'Sell Out' you should be able to pick up tickets for well before face value a day or so before the gig. If you are prepared to wait then touts will be practically giving them away outside
I think those recent Wembley Arena gigs were pretty popular - eBay tickets seemed to keep their value pretty high all the way up to the day (didn't check THAT closely though).
Was hoping to pick up an Arena ticket but they seemed to be very expensive on eBay.
Slightly surprised by a Stadium gig - thought maybe something like Hyde Park (mini festival a la Foo's) at a push.

A similar thing was said about them headlining Glasto iirc.
A similar thing was said about them headlining Glasto iirc.
Glasto is a totally different kettle of fish as the tickets weren't being sold on the basis of their name alone.
But the crowd was a biggie and they went down a storm. Morrissey hardly filled half the field and I'd have thought he was a bigger act.
It will sell out.
There the best live band currently playing.
If they cannot sell out, it says something about live music :oh-hum:

There proberly the only band about that could do playing a stadium justice. It'll sell out and then some.
How many people does the Wembley arena hold?
I have no doubt that they could fill a 75000 capacity stadium, especially if it's a one night only thing. They could really go to town on the visual/lighting side of things.
Would love to see them in a stadium.
I personally would love to see that, it would be a massive feat to fill this and if they pull it off it can really re-affirm their status as the best live band around at the moment!

I'm quite amazed as I didn't think they're big enough for Wembley Stadium. They'd likely sell out if it's one date, but do they really have the kind of show and interaction that the likes of Queen used to have?
The fans have of course wet themselves over this :D http://board.muse.mu/showthread.php?t=38017
Matt's no Freddie on the interactivity front, but Muse are most definitely a stadium quality band in terms of both live performance and sheer spectacle. I'll be there.
I suspect they'll have a few decent support acts to beef up the gig.

I can imagine them pulling it off, although that's an awful lot of tickets. Hopefully they'll do something elsewhere in the country too. They're one of the best live acts we've got. There was some talk on 6music of Kasabian supporting them, I think?
Any news on prices yet? Bet it will be out of my range :(

There's an FAQ here: http://board.muse.mu/showthread.php?t=38168
But no news on pricing or presale tickets. Only facts so far are it's on the 16th June and tickets go on sale Saturday 9th December, 9am GMT.

Reckon they'll be the first band to play the new Wembley? I know they're the only ones announced so far, but I thought that the first artist to play there would be one of the true giants - Rolling Stones, U2 etc.
I think its confirmed they are the first.
Hence the press conference, photo's etc etc
Noooooo. I live in Manchester but could get 4/5 people to go down to London to watch this and would love to. 16th June, I'll be in a plane over the Atlantic heading back to Blighty...... Hope they do some more stadiums, like City of Manchester. Like someone has said, Matt ain't the most crowd interactive person, but Muse could most definately do a stadium gig, they are amazing live.

I'd put a large wager on there being some more big gigs in the summer.
If they didn't play as much from the new album I would be over in a shot - I would like to think they would pull out all the stops for this event though and all the true great songs will be on display!
With it being a big stadium and not a specific album tour, as they'll already have done that, I'd expect the tracklist to be all the great Muse songs. I'd hope so anyway!

It's funny, because I'm almost of the opposite opinion - they really want Wembley to sell out, so surely the maximum chance of that is if they only do the one show.

My friend (a big Muse fan) got a text message from her buddy (a life-threateningly avid Muse fan, apparently) as soon as this was announced. I'd actually like to go - I certainly think it would be an experience...
... especially since the last time I saw them was in a 900-person capacity venue in Vancouver (yeah, it was amazing!)

Ticket prices are £37.50 by the way (plus booking fee). Doesn't look like there's any difference in seating or standing prices or any premier tickets.
Pre-sale is on now for those who are on the mailing list;). Selling out fast. Limited number though as the main bulk will be on sale tomorrow.

Cheers. I've registered with Tickmaster to hopefully save time but I'll try See Tickets at the same time, see which coes through quickest. Fingers crossed....probably the only band I'd bother going to see in a stadium!

just done exactly the same - although I'll be out at 9am so I'm hoping I've trained my dad well enough to get me some tickets :)
I got mine this morning on the presale. Had no hassle whatsoever buying them.
Even booked up a hotel so don't have to worry about getting home.
Bonus!!

I'm not a fan of email updates and never subscribed to the Muse one, so I've missed out on the presale link, despite being a fan since they were playing to under 100 people :(

I yearn to go to this but I just cant afford it. Next year we have a few things to do around the house plus we'r going to Glastonbury...just cant stretch to this.
Its gut wrenching because I have been a fan since 'Plug in Baby' was released. Ok, thats not as early as some people, but Iv worn out 2 of their albums because i listened to them that much.
This stadium gig though...last year I saw them at Leeds and it was simply incredible. Outstanding. I have a feeling that the people going to do this are going to be seeing Muse just because they'r now 'popular' and not really purvayer's of Live music or have any inclination to seek out new bands. They just listen to what the media puts in front of them.
One things for sure though...they'r going to put on one hell of a show.

Have to give the fans something. However the email subscription is open to all the touts who register :(... but it should keep some of them away as well as the opportunist ebayers. It wasn't that hard to subscribe though and cost nothing.
I remember when the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert came round the Queen fan club got a pre-allocation of thousands of tickets and you had to be a paid member. Then all you had to do was apply in advance and you'd pretty much automatically get a ticket when they came out. No choice of seat though.
Anyway the pre-sale is just a limited number of select seats. Tomorrow should still see some decent seats up for grabs, along with a lot more standing (note that standing is called 'general admission' which might confuse you).

I saw them at Earls Court 2 years ago but I was right at the back in the gods - it felt like one of those experiences that was fantastic but I was watching but not part of, so I realy want to get down there and enjoy it proper. I really hope it undersells so the genuine fans get tickets and make it a good night

After seeing them for the first time at the NEC a few weeks ago there was no way I was gonna miss out on this! Got my standing tickets, can't wait :D
Wonderful. Sitting here since 9am trying various places for standing tickets - none anywhere.
Buying tickets for the larger gigs is now a bloody nightmare. Loads on Ebay already - £150 each.
This country......
(I'm not bitter or anything).
I managed to get a level 1 seating ticket
I think I got one of the last ones.
Mr Silly
09-12-2006, 08:34
There are 6 of us who want to go.
One is working, one is moving house, one is without net connection, one is having to take his dog to the vets for an appt and the other is unavailable - leaving me to get 6 tickets. Obviously wasn't able to get 6 together
We now have 4 in a lower tier, 2 in an upper tier, but all in the same block
agree with mjb - disappointed to miss out on standing. At least we have tickets
Looks completely sold out now. Wow. Muse have quietly become huge. Second night ?

Wonderful - many thanks. Ordered my standing tickets for the Sunday.
Cool. I suppose in hindsight it was inevitable that there'd be a second night - shouldn't have got so wound up this morning.
Still, slightly surprised I got the Sunday tickets without tearing my hair out!

Im not sure I understand your sentiment... It appears you are be-moaning the fact that people you dont percieve as "real fans" are going to be getting to see Muse?
By your definition im not a real fan either... Ive got all the muse albums (yay me) I bought them a short time ago because I liked absolution and to be honest the earlier stuff isnt my cup of tea, but the new album is listed on my itunes as being played 10 times as much as the next closest album. I had amazingly good seats to see them recently at the NEC... probably depriving a real fan of the oppurtunity I guess... shame

Nah, just gives them more to buy and they make more money.
Though the thing with the Saturday selling out is you'll probably find a lot of the fans have bought more tickets than they need, with the hope they'll be able to flog them to friends or sell on ebay.

I'm sure it'll be amazing - as I said when I reviewed them, they are the ONLY band I've ever seen play a good gig at Glasgow's SECC, which is a souless barn of a place; their stage presence is enormous, the show itself is awe inspiring, and the music feels perfectly suited to massive venues.
Bands like Muse are what make me love gig photography! :D

Bands get bigger by drawing in new fans. Nothing wrong with new fans coming along because of the popularity. Though yeah there may be some who just go because it's a big gig rather than it being Muse, but the majority will be real fans.
Besides maybe some of those going will be Radiohead fans wondering what the fuss is about and then they'll find out just how Muse are nothing at all like Radiohead (and are in fact better) :D

I knew they were popular, but I didn't think they were that popular.

Just ignore me, Im just jealous because i cant go.
The point i was trying to get across though is that I truly hope the people going really have a good time and more importantly...get 'into' the performance. I hope they have a dance, smile, laugh..have a good time. Just got back from seeing Placebo at Wembley Arena and this guy in the standing area was froze to the spot all night, whilst people sitting at the back of the seating were enjoying it for all their worth, despite having a poorer seating position.
Maybe he was just totally monged out!
this guy in the standing area was froze to the spot all night,
And what's wrong with that? Was he watching? As long as he's not talking!
Though I couldn't go, strange I didn't get an email about this. I'm on there email list because I got presales for the present tour off it. Now come on Muse, add a date I can go to, you know you want to!!!

that sounds like me... well it wasnt me but you know what I mean.
Im crap, I have no rhythm and enjoy watching a band in big venues (smaller ones are different, Ill happily get in there and jump about) but I feel no need to dance or jig about... my mate asked me after the muse show why I didnt enjoy them... I replied "I did, loved em in fact and Im going to try and get tickets for the next night." "oh right, you just stood there expresionless"

There's also some VIP promotion thing going on. Not sure what that's about.
I've just bought 2 standing tickets from Ticketmaster for the Saturday don't know if they have released more?
More tickets released today. Mostly level 2 seated by the looks..

Yeah it seems the big "sell out" was just a marketing ploy. Are there more levels to go as so far they've sold levels 1,2 and 5 ?
Still staggering the sales also makes the touts efforts worth less, though sadly people don't hear of the extra tickets and still foolishly go to ebay :oh-hum:
I am really wavering on this......I can't afford it.....but it's Muse......at Wembley..........Why do you people keep on telling me there are tickets for sale?

I rang the Stadium on Monday to ask about Cameras and was told "one small camera for personal use" was the guideline. Nothing "professional" and no camcorders. I'm going to take my Digi compact along, will find out at the entrance I guess :)

One thing that is bugging me is the fact that you're not allowed to take in any plastic bottles of water, you're at the mercy of the Wembley prices instead...

Knives
Fireworks
Banners
Flags
Poles
Umbrellas
Weapons
Smoke Canisters
Cans
Bottles
Glass Vessels or Drink Containers
It also says NO SMOKING AT THE VENUE right at the bottom.
As I said above, it doesn't specifically ban food but it'll come down to the person on the gate I suppose.

Indeed. They're not worried as you will probably need a two foot lens anyway :D
Most people will be snapping away with compacts and cameraphones with flashes going away pointlessly illuminating nothing but the head of the guy in front and getting either blurred shots or a picture of dots in the distance. But hey, it's just the done thing :D (as I can't take my Nikon D70 I'll rely on my Nokia N80. It'll be okay during light hours but once it's dark it will be hopeless. Better to spend the time watching the thing than just taking photos though).

When I went to the play-off final a couple of weeks ago we found a lovely Chinese restaurant a couple of minutes from the tube station. Probably only worked out a few quid more expensive than a burger and drink inside the stadium and it was top notch!

What time did they come on? I am going today but have no interest in the support so would like to role up to m seat about 30mins before show time.

I'll post more later, but it was a great gig
Touts selling tickets for £8
£8? Weird, maybe that explains how I got 1 for free. I don't know the whole story, but my mate rang me from whatever pub he was in at about 10:30 on Friday night saying there was a woman just giving tickets away.

Is the standing just a free for all? Or is there segregation according to when you turn up?
Are you saying that if we just turn up and be brave tonight we'll get in cheap?
Touts were there but not doing a lot of business - think they got stung. I'm not a Muse fan but went along with my son after he picked up a couple of tickets from ebay for £40 the pair and they were going for cheaper than that later. I think tickets are still available for tonight anyway.
As for the gig - Muse put on a great stage show. They came on about 15 minutes later than advertised at 8.45 and played through to just after 10.30.
As for standing, there was a section at the front cordoned off - I think it was first come first served - but the rest was just a free for all.

WOW
That was an amazing show, the band, the set, the crowd..... all freakin' amazing. Stadium wasn't too bad either, had seats pretty high up but it still sounded fantastic.
could have done without DPT and The Streets though. DPT can't sing live to save their... lives, and The Streets.... as I said to a mate of mine, "It's like spending 30 minutes in a Burger King car park with a horde of chavs". Also, how dare that idiot compare himself to Freddie Mercury :(
Anyone else left with a sore throat and thumping headache? lol
£1.80 for a bottle of water?! £3.80 for maltesers?!! The sign at the counter saying they wouldn't accept £50 notes was great too - why not, most people would spend that much in one visit to the counter ;)
Back to Muse.... WOW.... WOW.... best. band. ever.
Can't wait for the DVD, and more concerts!

I saw them last night after a mate gave me a free ticket last minute. So we got there saw DPT :D and the streets :D I liked both!! Standing at the bottom and seeing a mexican wave go on for about 20 or so minutes all around the stadium was pretty wicked!
Muse were amaxing to say the least!
And the stadium!!! wow!!
£3.50 a pint...i expected worse so was happy with that in the end!
Fantastic night, great set and all that.
Rodrigo y Gabriela were the only good match support-wise I think. Very good, they made it look easy. They went down the best (of the support at least.)
Dirty Pretty Things were a non-entity, I don't think it helped that DPT or The Streets weren't well-liked by the crowd generally (I felt 'sorry' for Mike Skinner, trying to hype the crowd up a little, we weren't really going for it...)
Muse themselves were great, a very good mix of stuff. Starlight being my personal highlight of the night. Good light show too, shame we could only seem half of the video curtain thing (we were in the Corinthians, block 126, right near the left of the stage.)
The only downer for me were a few guys in front of us who seemed to think they were at a football match and an especially ****** up guy in front of them. *******.

btw, it's a long shot but here goes...
There was a song being played just before Muse came on and it started (I think it was the start) with:
na na-na-na na-na na na-na-na-na-na
After googling I've come back with the Kaiser Chiefs and I Predict A Riot and Na Na Na Na naa but it's not either of those.
The Na's were quite low pitched, and pretty slow....
thanks :)
edit: also, I guess they could have been La's, but I don't think so

Rodrigo y Gabriela were pretty good, DPT were awful. The Streets weren't bad really. Not sure the crowd didn't like them, they just weren't fired up enough by the previous bands. They/him (or Mike Skinner) actually went up in my estimation for trying to interact with the crowd and succeeding reasonably well. The Freddie Mercury stuff was just a bit of fun and appropriate given the location.
£1.80 for a bottle of water?! £3.80 for maltesers?!! The sign at the counter saying they wouldn't accept £50 notes was great too - why not, most people would spend that much in one visit to the counter ;)
£7.50 for a burger 'meal'. Burger tasted better than the crap you'd get from MuckyD for BurgerCrap.
£3.50 for a beer in a plastic glass was about what I expected. Though it was actually chilled!
Mass shoving to get a T-Shirt for £18 and then they'd sold out of anything but fat git sizes.
Touts were there but not doing a lot of business - think they got stung.
Judging by some of the empty seats I think that's true. It really annoys me that gigs like this sell out because of the touts and then seats remain empty because they can't offload them.
I'd be thinking that at least the touts may think twice next time, but instead they'll just stick them up for inflated prices on ebay to claw back their losses on tickets they won't be able to sell.
If all the tickets had been sold officially to genuine fans, even with some swapping about for people who can't go, all those seats would be filled:oh-hum:
Still, it was nearly capacity though I'd say.
They came on about 15 minutes later than advertised at 8.45 and played through to just after 10.30.
The stage was flooded and they took a while trying to soak the water up with towels!
Finished slightly later than I think was scheduled and combined with inadequate transport facilities / planning as usual in Britain, it caused chaos getting to the tube, resulting in (despite their claims of plenty of trains and everyone will get home), me missing the last 'normal' train back from Waterloo just after midnight. Had to wait until after 1am to get the really slow crawling train and it was absolutely crammed. Not just standing room only, but Japanese style cramming onto the train room only. Then they had the balls to blame people on the train for not making enough room when no one could move and they could have just stuck on extra carriages or an extra train considering the number of people expected
Got home at 3am for what is normally a half hour train journey and half hour walk, and I'm knackered.
Anyway, show itself... fantastic. Impressive stage and rig, effects and some little surprises. Music sounded great in there. Acoustically it's much better than the old Wembley. Strangely it seems smaller even though it's not. I think it's because it's more enclosed and the seating is closer to the pitch.
Muse were flawless in their performance. Mostly stuff off their latest album, and a mix of things of previous including their first album.
Was seated but in the first block next to the stage so a great view. Was fairly close to the pitch so got a lovely angle on the standing crowd as well.

I had to stay in London for the night - trains to Newbury suck, I'd have been able to get to Reading, just about, but there wouldn't have been a train to Newbury till about 6am. Stayed in a (horrible) Travelodge at Marylebone and got a train early this moring

Grreat gig...but i thought the sounds was no great shakes. I thought the vocal kept getting lost in the mix. But glad I was there.
Actually, now you say that there were a couple of points when that happened. But then again the majority of it sounded fantastic. At least from where I was sitting (well standing as no one sits in the seats). It's certainly better than old Wembley from what I remember of it sounding for concerts.
My ears are still ringing which is a good sign (though when I'm deaf in my old age perhaps not) :D
I thought the show itself was fantastic the way they came up through the stage and walk down to the stage. And the video screen during 'plug in baby' was fantastic.
If there is a dvd release of this it will be on my crimbo list.
Jesus. Superb gig tonight, as expected. Got there early so was in the front standing section (good spot!). Didn't see Shy Child but Biffy Clyro were good and the reception for MCR was, well, 'mixed' to say the least. I do like 'em though and they were pretty good.
Muse came on at 8 tonight and played till 10. Judging by Saturday's setlist on NME, it was ever-so slightly different but essentially the same.
Awful trouble getting home though - tube was chaotic. No Met line trains going towards London so everyone had to cram on to the Jubilee Line. The numbers on Wembley Way was one thing (took ages to get to the station) but then only one line rather than two. Then the train terminated at Green Park so had to wait for another one. Was stop/start all the way. I'd parked at North Greenwich - a 40 minute tube ride. Took nearly 2 hours. Glad I'm off work tomorrow! :D
I've just got back to Birmingham after the gig. Fabulous stuff I thought. Muse really took charge of the stadium and the set was fantastic.
Can't wait to see it again on DVD. Public transport though. God help us when it is Olympic time - we don't have a chance.

I went on the Saturday and thought the whole day and evening was fantastic! (Apart from the rediculous price of food and drink!!!)
Wasn't keen on the Dirty Pretty Things set at all - the songs just merged into one and they didn't really get the crowd going until they played 'Bang Bang You're Dead'.
Muse - Brilliant. The lightshow was great and I love the gymnasts spinning around on the balloons!
I think my favourite tracks were 'Map of the Problematique' and 'Starlight'.
As alot of people have mentioned, the whole tube situation was crazy. We almost missed the last train!!!
We went last night as my wife managed to get tickets in her company's box. Biffy was good and certainly got things going - especially the mosh pit in the front section! Muse were simply awesome - they had the audiance in the palm of thier hands. Great set, and where did those acrobats on the ballons come from? Wasn't expecting that at all. I managed to take my DSLR into Wembley and have got some awesome pictures.
Agree with the transport situation. We managed to get parking in the main carpark but it still took us an hour to get to the North Circular. I hate to think about everyone taking the tube towards London. Of all the nights to have the Met line not operating, it had to be this one! I hope everyone got back ok.

Me too - after getting home I put a few Muse CDs on and came to the conclusion that Muse suck....on CD. Live is the only way to listen to them and I really miss it :(
:D:D:D
Interesting you should say that, because I alway felt their live set kind of lacked something sound wise. But then again, I have only ever seen them in small venues so it may be that their large venue sound system is better.

You just need bigger speakers... and no neighbours.
They really are huge venue band though - opposite from the majority of 'big' bands these days, I don't think they'd be too good in an intimate venue.
I really hope we see a decent DVD of these then (they were being filmed so I assume so). Not bothered about HD (I don't have a player) but a decent DTS/DD soundtrack is good enough for me.
Anyone else think Take A Bow was a strange one to end on? Works as an opener or early track but thought they could've ended on Starlight or something. I'd have love to see them end on Hysteria or Butterflies & Hurricanes.
Anyone else think Take A Bow was a strange one to end on?
Yeah, i was also surprised that Hysteria came straight after Knight of Cydonia. Surely one of those would have been the best way to end the show!

Take a bow does have a good outro... although Knights of Cydonia is the obvious finale, especially when they drag the outro out more.

Not very good ones taken on a phone here (http://www.sirjohn.co.uk/ee/list.php?exhibition=20)
Did take some video on the phone also which worked well in terms of audio but video quality was rubbish.
Did you go on the Sunday Analog Kid? The venue looks enclosed from your pics or is it just the angle you've taken them from?
I think the new Wembley does feel more enclosed. I recall the old Wembley seeming to be massive in terms of space. The new one holds more upwards but it's more enclosed and the seating is closer to the pitch. The building itself though is much bigger than the old Wembley.
I think also the stage was a fair way out into the stadium. More than I expected (and hence I got a bit too much of a side view).

I don't think they'd be too good in an intimate venue.
Don't know about that. I saw them at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, Sept 2004 - 900 people or so - still awesome.
Although maybe it was because I knew how amazing it was to get to see Muse up-close and in such a small environment.

Couldn't agree more DeadKenny. My thoughts exactly.
And I also thought that something was missing soundwise, not sure what precisely, but still an awesome gig nonetheless. I do have to say, though, that I thought the visual aspect was as good, if not better, than the audio aspect of the concert.:notworthy
DeadKenny
21-06-2007, 22:06
From what I can tell from many responses on fan sites about the audio it just seems it was hit and miss depending where you were. Some spots were excellent, some quite poor. Oh well, I was just lucky :D
Well, not surprisingly, the sound was fine in the pit! :D I guess sound moves a bit in the wind the further you are away so location would have a bearing.
The sing-a-long to the guitar in Plug In Baby was one of my top gig moments!
When is the DVD of this gig out - some sites say Nov 21st ??
There's going to be a DVD?

I hope there is going to be a DVD!! In time for Xmas would be good!
Yeah its all but press-released. They were originally going to do a "Best of" style DVD where they picked certain songs from their recent "arenas" tour, to include about only 6 songs froM Wembley. But the feedback was negative, so now they will be releasing (probably) a CD/DVD like the new REM one, in November. They are keeping details very secret as I think they want to release it very suddenly and as a susprise to the fans. Good on 'em I say !

Sounds like a CD release with 'Bonus' DVD a la Black Holes & Revelations Tour Edition but time will tell...
There were signs up (IIRC) at Wembley - you know, 'by attending, you authorise to use your appearance, etc...' - so I always assumed it was being recorded for DVD release later.
Would be superb to have the whole gig on a DVD. Either day but Sunday would be better cos I was there.

Any news or rumours as to when they're next in London? I went to the Arena gig but missed the Stadium one and was really gutted.

OK I'll be on the phone/internet first thing for some "up to £40" tickets for the Muse night. Rest doesn't interest me.

Luck in getting tickets - ?
Missed out seeing at Wembley Stadium so i've got everything crossed.
I'm at work but got my Dad primed to work on this for me. £40 max for me.
I haven't been to a gig for a long time, but cancer is a cause close to my heart and if when it gets to it I can't afford to go (and I should be able to with a new job and a lodger now) then I can always sell the ticket at face value on here.
Good luck to all going for these.
Not too confident with it being my dad. I suspect he wont even be able to get up in time :)
Still, I can hope :)

Got through straight away on See, happy days. Didn't see any £70 tickets anywhere though?
Thanks alot for the link Spida, got three tickets from that. Couldn't get anywhere with aloud.com, ticketmaster or by phone.
Seats are in U section, which look like the nosebleeds but i don't care.

Managed to get 2 Circle tickets through Virgin (which linked to Ticketmaster anyway). £91.95 after all the charges . We're going to make a weekend of it in London anyway so I don't mind too much.
Well done on those that got tickets. Ive tried everywhere, been clicking no stop on three internet windows since 9.55 ! I have absolutely no idea what one is supposed to do to get tickets nowadays. Bring back the good old days when you queued up I say ! All this block booking and passcodes ruins it as far as I'm concerned.
I saw them at Reading (2006), Wembley (2007) and was hoping to make my "trilogy" complete haha! I shall take a wander down there on the night, see whats what.
Sold out everywhere i can think of :(
My dad didn't even try
If anyone here hasn't yet got them, my Dad just rang up the Royal Albert Hall (about five minutes ago) and got a stalls seat.
£56 mind which i can't afford but he said it was a present. Nice one dad
So if you haven't got one yet ring the RAH direct.
G'ah ! I tried
"For Muse ? <snigger> No, totally sold out I'm afraid"
My God - is this true ...
http://www.soldouteventtickets.com/ticket/61564/muse
How can they sell at that price ! Concerts never used to be this expensive when I young ! Wow how times have changed.
That's insane prices....
Does anyone know if the stalls are the best you can get? I see Arena standing - they are not going to be standing in front of me are they???

Stalls are tiered seats at the side, the arena standing shouldn't affect you at all I wouldn't think.
Yes the standing area is a small circle in front of you, but I expect you may be slightly raised to get a greater view. If you go to Ticketmaster.co.uk and go through the motions of buying a ticket (not that you can get one!) you'll see a seating chart for the Albert Hall - select the layout that says "Convert" and you will see where you are sitting.
Enjoy it you lucky so and so !
Cheers for that gents.
If it gets to within a fortngiht of the gig and I can't afford to go then keep an eye out on the classifieds. I should be ok though.
Once again my co-ordinator has come up trumps and got me 2 tickets in the stalls in section J. £113 for 2 including all the fees. Well chuffed. She got me front row seats to Goldfrapp too while I was out at meetings.
Result - can't wait.
Does anyone know how to download the free videos on the MUSE website? All they leave me is with a temp00.tmp file :(

Hmm - windows or mac? I'm on mac and downloaded them today. I just saved them (ipod versions) to my download folder and unzippped them.
sussed it thanks mate. You have to be logged in. I didn't realise they update it that often - there was different stuff on there last time I lookd. Going to have to check it more often.
REALLY excited about this gig now. Been a long time since I've been to a gig, and a long time since I've seen MUSE.
Some forums seem to think they are going to put in a soft set, perhaps with an orchestra. Not convinced myself.
EDIT
Can anyone recommend a good programme to burn the WMV's to DVD for play on my main TV. Preferably where I can make a menu allowing me to select the track?

Well i did hear an interview with Matt Bellamy on 6 music recently and he did say that they want to try a different approach for the Albert Hall gig, and I think he mentioned the idea of an orchestra. Not got tickets personally, but sure it will be a cracking gig whatever happens, enjoy.

Normal routes were coming up with nothing, but then I spotted the code via Virgin and Ticketmaster, and no problem. Plenty of tickets. That was around 11.30am.
So got one for the stalls. Going for the back of standing this time so at least I have a view of the whole stage. Shouldn't be so distant as the stalls are fairly close and the Albert Hall is not so huge (still big though).
Hoping for a more intimate gig really.

Should be interesting. I'm hoping for something away from the normal style of gig. Maybe a bit like when they've done Later with Jools Holland. Orchestra and classical stuff makes sense given Matt's classical background.
Damn, it's expensive though! (£60-ish what with booking fees, and then there's the £15 to get into town too, plus food, beer and whatever!). Still, Albert Hall is a nice venue.
Muse should stop touring and do a blumin new album now :D
Wont be for a while yet. Heard him on the radio affectively saying this year was a year off and they were only doing a few dates here & there to pay for their holidays. Nice work if you can get it :D
Just read an interview with Matt Bellamy in which he said that the fifth album is half written.
Unfortunately, he said that he had gone in a classical direction, and was struggling to get guitar on any of the tracks.
Please, Muse, don't do what so many other bands have done, and don't do "A Radiohead".
They are my one and only guitar rock band around that I'm into at the moment. REALLY want them to stay the way they are.

Muse could never do "A Radiohead". Trust me
Well, HAARP has arrived and what do people think.
It's bring back some good memories for me. The sound is fantastic and they actually sound a lot better than I remember from last year.
Can't wait till the 12th at the Albert Hall now.

Very good stuff. Sound quality is excellent.
And it's great to see the stage and lights face on as our seats were to the side.
Absoulutely loving the dvd the sound is great, a nice dts soundtrack which I had cranked right up.
Just a shame it weren't the sat night.
Got mine today and lovin the dts track, was a nice surprise
I'm a bit gutted Micro Cuts was cut from the DVD - but at least it's on the included CD.
It's a fantastic editing job - quite breathtaking. Great sound. I'd be surprised if there is a better live concert DVD released this year.
Futureheads as Albert Hall support (http://www.last.fm/event/517831)
Can't say they float my boat much but i'm open to see what they can do!
Sorry if this is old news, i've only just found out. It's confirmed on the Muse site also.

Loving it but the Director wants shooting. Seems there were dozens of cameras and he wanted to use a different one every second. I felt sick after one song. Horrendous. :(

Totally agree with you Jimbo1. Love Muse live so much that I only play the concert dvds now instead of the albums, but the camerawork on this! Sheesh!! Yes I suppose it does add to the atmosphere of the event but I long for direction like the Genesis concerts for eg where you can actually FOLLOW the instruments being (brilliantly) played. If Dom is playing a drum fill/break I want to see the whole thing! Not a cut away on the next hit!
It's still a great dvd to have though.
My ticket for the RAH gig arrived today

Anyone fancy a £10 raffle ticket to potentially see Muse?
http://www.seetickets.com/tct/price.asp?code=300389&filler1=tct&filler2=MUSE
Just a heads up. No posts on here or personal messages but at some point today or tomorrow I will be listing my ticket on the classifieds for face value plus postage as I am too skint to go :(
So keep an eye out.
Will that be just one ticket ??
CRB (and anyone else who might have been waiting), but I am REALLY sorry. I saw the bank manager yesterday and arranged a small overdraft to see me through so I am now going.
I am really sorry if I got anyones hopes up :(
No dont worry mate - just envious ! - really hope you enjoy the show !! Im still half tempted to go stand outside the Albert Hall on the night and try find some legitimate person to buy off
Has anyone got advice on car parking for this?
Basically I have to get into London for 1pm, where I am meeting some mates in the center and spending the afternoon with them before going on to the gig.
I am coming down from Norwich and can't decide whether to leave the car at a tube and tube it in or park in the city. Has anyone got any suggestion on parking in London somewhere withing public transport ride of RAH?
No-one back yet then? WHAT a gig - although I am still suffering from the temporary deafness I always get after these things.
I have to say that it was easily the best they have ever sounded to me. Their mix has always sounded poor to me before but they were spot on this time. And they really were heavy. In a way it was a shame that we didn't get to hear ANY softer slower numbers (Soldier's Poem was crying out to be played at the RAH) and the set suffered VERY slightly from this but they were just so so good.
And getting to hear Fury live, and Matt playing the RAH organ was just absolutely :notworthy
I'm just back now. Stunning night. The place was so small you felt right there.
Megalomania on the RAH Organ. :notworthy: A much better experience than the Wembley gig last year.
Just uploading my videos and pics now
Let me know when they're done mate. If I can have your permission (if you are putting them in the public domain) then I would like to put them on my homepage. Cool if not possible though - no worries.
It really was an amazing gig though wasn't it? Where were you?
I was in the stalls - J Row 6
Glad you went then? :D
I'll let you know when I get the vids up - never actually put anything on youtube before.
I have full video versions of Feeling Good and Megalomania. Pics are a bit shoddy tho.
And getting to hear Fury live, and Matt playing the RAH organ was just absolutely :notworthy
They were my two highlights of the night too.
I would have loved to have heard Sing For Absolution. I haven't heard that live since 2004. Fury made up for that though, never expected that so that was a bonus.
Here's what looks like n accurate description of the setlist.
Take A Bow
Map of the Problematique
Supermassive Black Hole
New Born + New Outro
Butterflies and Hurricanes
Fury
Feeling Good
Invincible (Slow)
Hysteria
Starlight
Bliss (Extended)
Man of Mystery Whole Lotta Love + Heartbreaker + Time is Running Out Stockholm Syndrome + Riffs
Megalomania (Organ)
Osaka Jam + Plug In Baby
Close Encounters + Knights of Cydonia

I was in J Row 9.
And yes I was very happy I went.

Amazing, amazing gig. Highlights for me would be Megalomania on the organ :notworthy, and the very last bit of Knights of Cydonia - the standing area looked amazing during that song.
Ended up giving our standing tickets away for face value outside to a very grateful couple - we'd gone to the box office at 6.30 or so and picked up amazing 4th row stalls seats right next to the stage instead. Some of my pics here (though not as good as the ones linked above, they're incredible)

Christ I hope not, Muse are the band Radiohead should have been if they'd kept the guitar cranked up like Mr Bellamy does:notworthy
Love the Wembley dvd, cranked up in the background now
Isnt Mr Bellamy now becoming a concert pianist ?
That's what he alluded to in an interview which prompted my original question. He kinda said he was fed up with the guitar as an instrument and it wouldn't appear at all on the new album :(

Matt is always saying stuff in Interviews that NME et al regurgitate as gospel, the last one was a rumoured Muse/Mike Skinner linkup to create a UK version of Rage against the Machine so I wouldn't read too much into it. They've been circulating rumours about playing with orchestras at numerous venues including Wembley and that hasn't happened (yet! ;)), I think he sometimes throws odd comments in for misdirection, keeps the interest up too I guess.
As far as the next album is concerned, so far I can recall:
It's going to be more of a Dance music direction
20 Minute Prog Rock epics
Orchestras again
No album at all, just singles followed by some sort of collection later
The truth is that until the new material begins to emerge either recorded or as part of live sets later this year it's anyones guess what direction they are headed in but given Chris and Dom's 'Osaka Jam' played as part of the Royal Albert Hall encore it's a reasonable bet that it won't be a complete departure from the current sound.

Just recieved the 4 studio album by Muse (in a 2 for 10 offer), only familiar with a few of their singles!
Just finished listening to Origin Of Symmetry....what a great album!
I prefer the Eels cover version of Feeling Good though.
Look forward to listening to the others!
Listen to Absolution all the way though - top, top album and my fave of theirs.

Has anyone heard the Muse track which has been leaked? Its a 3 minute jam with Mike Skinner rapping over the top of it. Called Who Knows Who and you should be able to find it via Google.
The band have said that its fine to be distributed round as it was never going to be for commercial release anyway.
