My bro' has just rung me saying the 444 recently purchased from UGH has suddenly started to refuse to play certain discs. Namely Godfather & NOES box. Thing is, they used to work!!!

I'm gonna go round there tomorrow armed with a few 'problem' discs - Gladiator Toy Story etc to test it before getting onto Justin, but has anyone else had trouble?

Baps,

Sounds like someones been chaning the setup options:) Make sure its STILL set to Default region 1 (Display will show R1 in menu, but Auto mode works for all other region discs entered), as if the discs played before, somethings been changed!

Theres no issues or reliability problems that I`m aware with on DV444 / 545 currently

Hope that helps:)

Thx Justin, as he's a bit of a plum I suspect something like that has happened. :p

The discs in question are R2, but other R2 discs & an R1 are working fine - I'll test it out properly tomorrow.

Justin, I got a Pioneer DV545 b4 xmas off ya. It has played all my disc's so far but refuses point blank to play Jeepers Creepers R1. This disc will play in all my other players inc an old Sammy SM304 in the the pc that wont read dick:confused: it will play to the FBI warning then just freezes, the timer struggles on jumping about etc but thats all it will do. I've returned the disc back to Play24.7 & will check out the new one if they will exchange it. Any other ideas in the meantime

Interesting post that Bap, keep us posted.

Radiohead and I have been thinking of buying the 545 so I'd be interested to hear of any problems.

Uh, and just to eliminate any confusion, Radiohead and I were going to buy them seperately - we don't live together or nothing...

Much to his disgust :D

Theres no known issues with the Pioneers, other then the drives are quite sensitive to disc faults and scratches. Baps problem is the machine refuses to play some region discs (its losing its settings), your problem is disc related. To be perfectly honest out of all the machines I`ve owned and used, theres only been one machine thats played EVERY disc in my collection without any problems, and thats a old Sony DVPS7700!

Hi,

I bought a 444 with the full mod about 3 months ago from UGH and i've been really pleased with it. I have had some problems recently though with Men Of Honor (R1) and Ghosts On Mars (R1) both saying my player is the wrong region.

I believe the full mod allows me to manually set the region but i didn't get instructions on how to do this. Would you be able to let me know please Justin as im sure thats all it is.

Thank you

Kevin

*UPDATE*

Right, it plays all the discs fine I've found out, but the TV mode setting keeps reverting back to 16:9 WIDE mode from 4:3 letterbox when it's powered up and my brother's 4:3 portable TV doesn't like it.

Still waiting for Justin to reply to a mail I sent Friday.....

Just for my knowledge, how do you change regions manually on the 444?

Sorry to hi-jack the thread but does this player (444) have any problems playing the Tron R1 disc? Thanks

That link not working kimusabe :)

Heres how to do it according to kcxdev...

- turn the player on with no disc so No Disc is displayed
- press setup
- select general and press enter
- select SETUP MENU MODE
select BASIC
- press DISPLAY
- press CONDITION MEMORY
- press 1-6 according to region (1 in this case)

Alternatively, if there's no menu option, insert and eject an R1 disc before loading an RCE title.
