View Full Version : Thomasds Movie Giveaway Quiz- Win A Free DVD!
Hi!
Just looking through the thread from yesterday of the big DVD giveaway and thought it would be fun to do a movie orientated quiz of my own. Now not all the prizes will be DVDs but there will be 1 or 2 after a while- not saying when. The first is a quote from a film and the prize shall be...
The book The Silence Of the Lambs
" All of us on this Earth know that there is a time to live and a time to die"

Well I know the answer - but I already have the prize, so I won't tell. :)
Oops I thought you meant the dvd of SOTL I already have the book so will withdraw my entry.
Got a bit carried away in all the excitement :(

Yes, that is correct - at least, that was the answer that I didn't want to place in this thread in case it was only open to those in the UK.

So that is a yes?
The only reason I asked is that I did know the answer was Plan 9 but did not post it as I didn't want to ruin it for others if I was not eligible (see above posts) :)

I haven't seen it but is it Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes?
PS - To add to the last question this is the Blade Runner quote so that you people don't get confused:
Roy Batty: I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Anyway - I've been sat here for ten minutes thinking 'name a film' but I can't come up with anymore reasonable guesses :(
So - it's a two genre movie, one possible Sci-fi/fantasy, made in the late 70's early 80's that is set in olden times
It's not some 'Carry on' movie is it? (Carry on destroy that death star perhaps?)

Congrats MattCapes!
I can't believe I missed it all by going to Asda! Damn place.

OK, got an Idea. The Random movie star generator. Using the random movie thing On IMDB. I come up with a random movie and give you the character name of the character at the bottom of the cast list.
E.g Sonietta played by Gillian Hills would be A Clockwork Orange.
Two points for every right answer- first to 40 wins the DVD
And you cant look on IMDB!

EDIT - Next person/character?
Are we sure we're not using IMDb? Or a similar database (as only IMDb is banned)? :D
Personally I reckon you should do something like screenshots - impossible to cheat even if you wanted to.

'Name the screenshot' or 'name the movie from a line' is always good.
This is much more interesting that what I'm supposed to be doing at work anyway
OK, random quotes it is. Some will be taken from IMDB and some will not. First to 40 as some will be easy, 2 points per quote. Everybody happy with that?
:D
Oh yeah and the prize is no longer Return of the God Of Gamblers R2, Its The Cannonball Run R2

Is it the classic - 'it's so bad it's sometimes good' Law and order?
(which I only got into watching after seeing on Friends once  )

I thought that but thought it was just from Movies
Disregard trhe last quote as that is from a TV Series not a film- just realized. It was Law and Order by the way. Proper second one...
"So I understand you wish to marry my wife"
