Colleague at work has just returned from a 70s weekend at a holiday camp which featured acts like Boney M, Slade, The Rubettes, etc. alongside tribute acts for Abba, Blondie, etc. As we've begun to see 80s artists do the same kinda thing on various package tours.
What difference (if any) is there between this kind of thing and going to see someone like Black Sabbath, who I'm guessing (happy to be proved wrong) who would basically turn up and do the hits.
Have any of your idols turned into sad versions of their former selves? When I was younger - and more militant - I lost interest with the Damned during the wilderness years c.1989-1996 ish because all they seemed to do was tired anniversary shows with the same sets all the time.
Now they mix things up, pulling b-sides and stuff out, keeping it interesting for themselves and the audience. Sometimes it's easy to forget this is what these people do to earn a living.
