There is a detailed review of the Australian version of the disc (which is the same as the R2) here (http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/Reviews/Reviews.asp?ReviewID=980). The only criticism I would make of that review is that it somewhat downplays the superior R1 disc, mainly because it would be so much more expensive to purchase the US edition with Australian dollars. Personally, I'd probably go for the extras-laden R1 edition, but if you're just looking for the film it seems the quality of the disc is just about equal.
Incidentally, Play247 (http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=98244) have the R2 in their sale for £7.99 - which does increase the price gap between the R1 and R2 further.

Yep! It is also cheaper at play (7.99)

TBH most people would recommend that you get the R1 SE instead of teh barebones r2.

Also watch Clerks before hand!

I was suprised to see on that review that the Universal budget disc is anamorphic. Another case of Universal UK's PR not having a clue what's actually on the discs...
Wonder if Brewsters Millions is widescreen like the R1 then?

While its not exactly art it is incredibly funny and extremely re-watchable. This and the Big Lebowski are my two most watched comedies. You should definitely get the R1 version its a good film on a great disc with one of the funniest commentaries you will hear. Highly recommended.

R2 Box confused the duck cause it said the disk was 16:9 and then below it said FULLFRAME, that just baffled me!

According to this thread (http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=171320) on DVDTalk, the R1 Kevin Smith discs are having their MRSPs cut shortly. It may be worthwhile holding off for a few weeks to see what happens.

I don't think Kevin Smith is that popular over here. None of my mates wanted to go and see J and s bob and haven't got a clue about clerks, mallrats and chasing amy.

I'm afraid even though I loved Clerks, Dogma and Chasing Amy I found Mallrats extremely unfunny, and it was all I could do to keep watching it all the way through. Each to their own I guess.
