cant afford to upgrade to an amp and 5.1 speaker setup, so currently have dvd player linked to my hifi. Sounds good but lacks a bit of depth.

Hifi has a sub output in the form of a single phono socket, so will need an active sub.

I want something that will last, so that if and when i do upgrade to an amp and dd/dts speaker setup i can simply transfer the sub over.

Dont know a lot about subs, but have seen that most if not all active subs have volume control, which would be ideal for me, so that i dont end up overloading my current setup with base, and can easily adjust the sub to suit the sound from my current speakers.

So the challenge is folks recommend me a half - decent sub costing around 150 quid.
