My wife has an old Kodak digital camera and she's really fed up with the time it takes to start up and how long it takes to get ready again after taking a picture.

So Christmas is coming and i want to get her a new camera and one she'll be really happy. I just need one with great all round perforamce for around 200 pounds. The most important thing would be one that has a really fast shot-to-shot speed.

Can you guy's help me? I need some recommendations

Thanks guys :)

If she's after a compact then you can't go to wrong with the Canon IXUS range.

I use a Canon IXUS 800 that go for about £225. If you can't afford that then the IXUS 60 seems about the same (for £150) albeit it doesn't have IS (Image Stabilizer). Which is really helpful for handheld low light photograpy without a flash.

any ideas on size or manual function requirements?
i'm a huge fan of the ixus series, so this one (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.onestop-digital.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_23&products_id=284) could be good for you, and stays within your budget requirements?

if you're after some manual functions, then perhaps something like this powershot a710 (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.onestop-digital.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_23&products_id=337) will be useful, though it is larger than the ixus.

there's nothing wrong also with going into your local camera shop and trying some out, to see how you like them.

one final consideration is the memory cards your camera uses, if you have compact flash cards from your current camera, you'll be hard pressed to find a compact camera that it'll fit into. if you have SD cards, then you'll probably want to avoid most fuji and olympus cameras which use XD, and sony, which use their memory stick format if you wish to reuse them.

those two cameras are good to start with, but if you have some more specific requirements everybody on here will be able to give you some better advice.
