Apologies if this has been discussed before. I had a quick look over recent threads and couldn't find anything along these lines, so hopefully this will be ok.

Anyhow, I've heard conflicting reports on the compatability between DVD Region X and the Official Sony Remote. I've got Region X at the moment, and I am seriously considering buying the remote (using the controller's getting to the :brickwall stage, and having the lip-sync problems fixed would be great). If I were to buy the remote though, would Region X be disabled completely? Or would I just not be able to use the remote when watching R1 disks? Is there any way I'd be able to use both simultaneously?

Thank you,

Renton.

Go to the Region X site and type in the upgrade codes for the new Sony player software that comes with the remote (v2.10). This should solve any problems.

Region X upgrade codes (http://www.dvdregionx.com/english/x_key_codes.htm)

When you update your drivers to 2.10 the region-x setup screen will still display the old drivers in the top right hand corner, you must enter the 2.10 codes regardless of the number displayed.

Thanks for the help guys.

I've managed to get into another situation though. I ordered the Remote, and it arrived today. Upon inserting the DVD Player 2.10 update disc though, I'm prompted with the following screen: 'Please Insert a Playstation or Playstation 2 Format Disc.' Any ideas on / solutions to this? Mine is quite an early PS2 model, bought in feb/march, if that has any bearing.

Thanks again for the help earlier.

*EDIT* All is well, I managed to use the neighbours' system to get the drivers on my memory card. :D
