HI probably already no the answer to this but you never know.
I have just had my Sony DAV S500 upgraded to region free but now I can only play region 1 discs by using normal three plugs from DVD to scart on my Sony KV-32FQ75, I have a sky digibox connected to RGB scart on tv and to play discs before was using S-video to scart but on 1 discs getting picture flicking between colour and b&w. I think I am lumbered with this as dVd does not have scart but if there are any other solutions please let me know.

Cheers

I've the exact same TV and the Sony DavS800
I suffered the same problem as the TV only accepts NTSC through the s-Video, not through Scart sockets.
all you need to do is visit http://www.kv32tweak.freeuk.com and use the info there to enable NTSC on your scart sockets.
It worked beautifully for me. But be careful...

Hi

Guinoa - can you let me know (for a mate) where you got the dav500 modified or recommend somewhere? Would prefer the special remote type hack that I've seen mentioned but would of course consider an actual modification.

Could you also clarify your discussion above for me a little? Does the dav have to go to tv via s-video to scart cable?

thanks

Hi Davey I actually got a software upgrade from a HIFi shop in Coventry which I took the machine there and collected same day, they do offer a postal service at www.avland.co.uk or you could try Upgrade heaven I paid £50.00 for mine.
As the dav s 500 as no scart the best connection is S video to scart or you can use the standard 3pin to scart.
I am not aware of a remote hack for it.

I've the '800 - same player only the speakers are different.
I got mine from Ugrade Heaven.

I may be wrong... (It sometimes happens) but I don't think there's a handset hack for ANY Sony player.

thanks Lord.

I just read a post recently about a place that sends you a special remote to do a code, and you then have to send back the remote, and it applied to a toshiba dvd (which normally has to be a mod as well, like sony).

cheers!

Oh excellent, I bought my Mission M73's from them.. they price matched an internet place for them too..

My friends dad bought that player from Curry's for £400. My friend wanted to know how to multi-regionalise it.

Thanks again.
