I was just about to order A Nightmare On Elm Street R2 from Play, they have it at the nice price of £8.99.

But I thought I would have a quick look at Craigs rewind site, and it says that there is a commentary track, and also it's 1.85:1 anamorphic.

Play doesnt mention anything about a directors commentary, and has it listed as "Widescreen 2.35:1".

Can someone clear this up for me please.

1/ What ratio is the Entertainment In Video release?

2/ Is there an audio commentary on it?

Here are the two links:

Play's version (http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=88693).

Rewinds version (http://www.dvdcompare.org.uk/comparisons/film_results_page.php?fid=759).

As far as I can tell, the R2 version in the Elm St box set definitely includes the commentary. I'm not sure about the one sold separately.

The boxset version of the first movie is 1.85.1 and includes a commentary - a very good one too (recorded for the laserdisc release a while back) with John Saxcon, Heather Langenkamp and Wes Craven plus the cinematographer. No reason to believe the individual release will be any different.

I think you can still get the boxset for about £25-30 (bensonsworld have it for £28 delivered). Sequels had all the nutrition an exploitation fan would want. May not be in the majority on this one, though....:)

I bought this at Asda yesterday for 10 quid. It's got the audio commentary, which is rather good, and is anamorphic 1.85:1. Excellent picture and sound too.

Plus you can pay using safedoor at bensonsworld, and you get a £5 voucher for signing up with safedoor.
