View Full Version : Pioneer DV737 or 545?
I had almost settled on buying a 545 but am now being horribly tempted by the prospect of a 737 for £399, which seems like a good price given that they were £700 a year ago. The 737 is an older player, but it looks like it's built like a tank and it has component outputs which I could use with my Tosh RP telly. On the other hand, perhaps the 545 benefits from being a newer model. Has anyone had experience of both these players? Is the 737 worth the extra £150 or so?

Forget the DV737, its getting on for 2 years old now, and Pioneer discontinued it last September. £400 seems a bit expensive, as at the time everyone was clearing them out for £400 M/R (4 months ago!). DV545 is not as well built, but has a better picture then DV737. If anything, consider the DV646A or a Marantz DV4100OSE if you want to spend under £400:)

Justin, thanks for your comments. I didn't realise the 737 had been around for so long. I'd really rather spend £250 or so unless I'd be getting better VFM by spending more. I'm a bit iffy about the Marantz simply because I've heard mixed reviews. After much procrastination I'm leaning towards the 545, but am not yet entirely convinced ...
Apart from DVD audio, which I'm not too interested in, what does the 646A offer over the 545 for the extra £80?
