Proline & Halloween

My brother has a proline dvd player. He recently bought Halloween 2 disc edition, disk two plays fine but disc one wont start at all. Anyone know if this is a firmware problem or a faulty disc?

If it's the newer one (Proline 2000 I believe) you can get a firmware update CD that sorts out many compatability issues.

Press Menu twice and it should display the firmware version. 005 is the latest, but many prolines are still on the buggy 003 firmware. If you have the older firmware you should be able to get the update cd from the place where you brought it otherwise try calling currys mastercare as they use to have some.

Had a similar problem with Halloween on my LG; thought it was the player, but I went through five copies from Woolworths, all of which exhibited different problems on disk one (some would not play, others would only show problems on the menu).

Eventually got a disk from a different branch of Woolies and that plays fine. I think it was simply a bad batch...
