I should imagine they'd like to get a few episodes built up, ready for when it takes a break.

Just found this on a LOST forum

Sky will air season 3 starting from Sunday 19th November at 10pm, with eppy 2 airing at 11pm. Episodes will continue to air every Sunday at 10pm afterwards.

I find that difficult to believe. By the time Sky shows Lost episode 3, the US would only be 2 weeks into it's 13 week break after broadcasting the first 6 episodes. After 6 episodes in five weeks on SkyOne there will be a hell of a wait for episode 7.
