As i keep getting nothing but server busy messages i defected to the other side and had a look around DVD Talk. They have a thread here (http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=170986) that states FATF is selling like mad.

I'm glad ********* pulled the hat out the bag and got me mine before the US street date.

this i can believe - at play its twice gone in and out of stock in the space of 24 hours, and with the technical quality of the disc I think it represents one of (if not the) best put together dvd releases to date, so its no wonder its proving a little hard to come by :)

This is almost certainly due to low level distribution combined with the DVD making a good xmas pressy.
There's no way its selling more than SW:EP1 or Shrek.

why not? im sure it hasnt sold as much since its only been available on the street for a few days, but in terms of rate of selling I see no reason why it should be selling significantly less than shrek or tpm - imho its markedly superior to the latter.

edit : aaaaand its got the christmas market to milk too :)

As one of the posters on there suggested there is a huge 'following' for street racing and general car modification, so i would think a huge proportion of those will snap this disc up.
I think it's also probably a combination of people with Christmas money eager to get their hands on the newest/hottest DVD that's out.

It'll probably dip in sales as the weeks go on. Still glad i got mine early though.

Anyway is it not Hat out the bag?, no wait that doesn't sound right. Cat?

I don't know ignore me i'm talking tosh again.:D

I don't know why it's selling so quick. I was really looking forward to this one, but it turned out to be another 2001 dissapointment. It tried to be Gone in 60 seconds meets Point Break, but it wasn't a patch on either (especially the latter)

Shrek broke record numbers in the States for fastest selling DVD.
A Family based blockbuster will almost certainly sell more than an adult themed one because the market is far wider.
Many people would have received players for Xmas & FATF probably would have been the dvd of choice to go with it, but the DVD itself isnt selling anymore than similar movies of its type.

I thought this was an excellent film and DVD. I have only had time to get through the main flick for now, but have been looking forward to getting into the special features also... I can fully understand why this is selling out. :)

Why ?.
The article only shows that FATF is selling more than Peal Harbour.
Hardly surprising given the reaction to the latter plus its been out longer.
The article even admits that the source for this information is unreliable !.

read it man - it says its the fastest ever (ie rate not totals, so your observation about being out longer is invalid), beating the previous fastest (pearl harbour) by 1/3 - it doesnt say unreliable, it says inconclusive, and that it is the most reliable of sources for this variety of information. So, i larf in your face :p

And these figures are not from an official source & you dont need me to tell you how easy it is to twist statistics to ones own gain.
For example, these figures could be based on units purchased by company as opposed to customer, and as it was the xmas period stores would have brought in more stock of brand new releases.
So I belch in yours !.:p

I can't see how anyone would see this film as anything other than a derivative piece of shi'ite! It was pointless, plotless and very, VERY BORING (IMO of course)

I am perplexed as to why this film has a following - for me it was the worst film I saw at the pictures last year - YES LAST YEAR, which included Tomb Raider, Pearl Harbour and The Mummy Returns - FATF was bilge!

Again all IMHO

I liked it a lot. Didn't catch it the cinema but new it was "my bag".
The dialogue is very wooden but the characters do their bit to entertain. The movie definitely gets the whole MaxPower tuning mentality (or lack thereof) in perspective and just has a great time with the action. Fun, flash and brainless. Perfect cheeseburger movie.

Oh and Vin Diesel's tuned RX7. Fantastic motah.

For the record, I havn't seen Pearl Harbour (I have a Bay/Bruckheimer avoidance policy in force). The Mummy Returns was utter tripe and i've yet to see Tomb Raider (gonna borrow it from a friend)
