This is my favourite movie of all time and I saw it many times in my youth(...if you don't know this film, it's an epic starring Robert DeNiro, Gerrard Depardieu, Burt Lancaster, Donald Sutherland to name a few, directed by Bernardo Bertolucci and with a fabulous score by Ennio Morricone). When it came out on VHS some years back, I rushed out to get it only to be dismayed that it was the Italian dubbed version. My only experience of it previously was a 41/2 hour cut in English! My reason for posting this is to find out if this 'English' cut exsists, and if so, in what form - VHS, Laser or DVD.
I hazard an educated guess that a DVD version is not available yet and the VHS version I have is the longer Italian dubbed version. I'm sure someone somewhere once told me(...could I be more vague) that the LaserDisc version was the shorter English language version...if this is true, I would seriously buy a Laserdisc player just to watch this movie!!
I am aware that this film was an Italian production and that the Directors cut would have the Italian language soundtrack, but the cut that was released in America(...about an hour shorter apparently) and the cut I saw and now want very much, was the 41/2 hour English language version.
So...can anyone out there help me with this???
