View Full Version : Akira cover scan request (query)
I've finally decided its time to move my akira dvds from the tin to amarays but being skint and a lexmark printer owner (£££ carts) I'm a bit put off by the almost all black cover that I downloaded a while back. I've seen this light blue one from Amazon (single disc edition) and was wondering if I can download this from anywhere or even if it does exist (I've tried mega search and cc covers).

any ideas?
I think thats from the single disc R1 release - so check the usual CD/DVD Cover haunts... www.mega-search.net being the most comprehensive search engine for those types of sites ;)
dave.
mega- search only comes up with some dodgy german one (also black). I think people either have the tin, or are holding out for the r2/r4 :(
Or they own epsons :o

I'd fall into that category :D The black cover I made, and the black cover i got from a covers site both printed out vey nicely ;)

Or one could, in theory, sneakily use a colour laser printer as found in one's place of work....
Not that I'd condone such acts of gross misuse of company property. I know I did...
whoops I've said too much. :o

no colour laser at work.... actually, no work! :( :(
Oh I see, sorry to hear that. :(
Had I still been at work I'd gladly have offered to print you one (hey it's not like it costs me anything :D ) but I've left work (industrial placement) and a presently at Uni. So no access to colour laser printer I'm afraid.
I graduated last summer, bummer! ahh... I remember my industrial placement days... spent all the dosh on my HC setup and dvds :D

Out of curiosity, isn't there some kind of big chain of print and photo service here in England? When I was in America, I used to use a place called Kinko's (found them everywhere). I could just bring in a disc/zip and have them print out stuff for me for a couple of bucks.
Can't think of any place like that (apart from digital photo printing). I might just buy one of those refill kits (which I'm not that keen on) and fill up an old cart... I hate being skint :(

I think Staples do something along those lines
I don't have a Staples near me, thx for the suggestion tho, and just found out that the refill kits almost cost as much as a cartridge :o
i've just been looking up the prices on Lexmark cartridges as a result of this thread and oh dear lord they cost a fortune!! Even the compatibles are roughly £12 for Black and £15 for Colour!!!!
First thing i'd do m8 is drop kick the Lexmark out the window :D and go get yourself an Epson!
On a more practical note - can anyone find a website with decent quality original Akira Artwork cos then you could make your own cover....every site i've looked at though contains crappy pictures with a resolution more suited to a Dot Matrix
dave.
I bought the printer cheap (lexmark z42) when I was in uni and didn't think about the carts, I did practically all my printing in uni, I only just bought a black cart after having no black ink since I printed my dissertation last spring/summer! I just went ahead and printed the black cover, oh... what the heck
thanks everyone for your suggestions :)

Got an HP Deskjet 930C. With quality inkjet paper, I can get some nice results, but the cartridge prices... £19 for black and £23 for colour  ? They seem to last quite long, although not quite sure. I'm not willing to find out by printing out Buffy Season 2 for the price I got it for :). Maybe going to a shop will be cheaper.
Can't find a digital photo printing near me, but a Staples is close by. I'll give them a try. Thanks for the heads up.
dunno if they do carts for the 930 but have u tried Choice (http://www.choicestationery.net/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Epson_Compatible_Cartridges_9.html)?
