Just bought the Mordaunt Short Premiere Speaker pack (300
series)
It has an active subwoofer so I got an rca to rca subwoofer cable to connect it with only problem is the sub has a double phono connection on the back (red/white) and my amp (Marantz 6200) has only a single output connector.

Do you get a single rca to twin phono lead???

Is this "normal"

Also my speaker connection guide suggests connecting the satellite speaker leads from my amp to the back of the sub I wouldn't have thought this was necessary and was going to just connect my amp direct to my speakers???

Any help appreciated!

Some subs have dual inputs. Normally, you just use one of them if you only have one output. Alternatively, you can get a phono splitter. e.g. GP2PSXPP from http://www.lektropacks.co.uk/acatalog/Lektropacks_Online_Adaptors_29.html

Will it be alright to just use one in the mean time? or indefinitely?

Also am I right in my thinking about the rest of my speakers?

Yes - it's OK to just use one. They're "joined" internally, anyway. The only difference may be a 3dB (almost inaudible) reduction in level. But as the level is set by ear (unless you've got a spectrum analyser), it's not a problem.

Whats the MS 300 Premier like. Asking 'cos I just bought he SR5200 and 4100OSE player but screwed up badly with the speakers. After weeks of reading the excellent advice on the forums and searching through reviews etc - I then went and sold myself short (Tom Cruise level) on the speakers. I'm asking 'cos I know that Marantz are the distributor for this series in the US but would like to know whats the sound quality like. The set I have is extemely bright (read 'tinny') and really want a set that is discrete and is also as good with music as its is with film.

GF loves the player, amp etc but is threatening to kill me for wasting money (just moved into new house as well) on speakers that dont do it justice. Would preferably want a small, complete set and this looks like a better alternative to what I have. I'm into films - shes into music so am now looking for a compromise.

Haven't really had a chance to try out my speakers yet I also got a 4100OSE but it doesn't work so getting it exchanged!! Got a SR6200 amp I might be able to try it out today using my PS2 as source!
Initial impressions are good but I must warn you I have nothing else to really base my opinion on!!! And I'm certainly no expert!

Will try and test them out as much as possible today but they aren't run in yet so will just have to wait and see.
I'll let you know how I get on later
