I thought this epsiode was dire, with a few good moments.
The awful voice over, spouting forth psuedo scientific BS needs to go. The fact that every charecter makes stupid or selfish decisions. Too many independant storylines and too many obvious plot contrivences.
So disappointed.
What was stuck into her neck?
Was it a twig? Is that her 'Kryptonite' then?
She healed up pretty quickly when it was pulled out. Looks like she'll have to scoop her insides back inside her and hope for the best.
Oh and who was the black guy in the bar who didn't seem to have any readable thoughts and was staring at the cop before he feinted...
Very weird...
Fantastic show, 42 minutes just flies past ... I agree that the voice-over is contrived & not needed, but everything else is great .... That ending was class!

This is improving, I was ready to drop this (need to drop something LOL), but last two have been fairly good.

Very weird...I don't think twigs are her kryptonite but maybe something to do with brain injuries?
Thought this was another excellent episode, definately think the politician guy is gonna turn out to be evil and I still have absolutely no idea what the strippers powers are supposed to be!

I think that the presence of the twig is preventing the brain healing kind of like the ribs poking out in the first episode (caught on uniform)
I have a feeling that its not the stripper who has the power but her husband who is hiding out in her head.
Did the cop feint due to overexertion of his powers or was it the unreadable black chap?
The girl at the bonfire, one that stared after the cheerleader and quarterback. Was she one of the pictures from Sylar's map :suspect:
Might be a good call on the stripper's husband hiding out in her head, the kid seemed to have seen him recently, when she blacks out?
Edit - meant to say, class show. The voice-over is cheesey as hell, but still good :)

Could even be the son with the powers
This is improving, I was ready to drop this (need to drop something LOL), but last two have been fairly good.
The last two were ep1 and ep2. Unless you're including this week, in which case what you're saying is you didn't like the pilot but it's been great since then.
Personally I would never drop anything on the pilot alone. There was one show, The D.A I think, and the pilot was crap but the next 3 eps were fantastic! And then it got canned
This weeks ep was amazing, especially the ending. I thought "she can pass it off as a coma" until we see she's been autopsied!
The whole stick thing, I just think that the stick "killed" her but she couldn't come back until it was removed. Her body couldn't heal itself with a foreign object lodged in her neck. One small, and it is small, niggle is that she seems to get injured very easily. At worst, I'd have expected cracked ribs from that football incident last week, no way would she break her neck in real life. But aside from that it's fantastic.

It's like if you have a dagger through your heart, if it remains there, your heart can't beat and you can't live, It requires through an external force to remove the dagger, so the heart can beat again.
I'm enjoying this at the moment, the promise of New York being nuked is good enough to watch it to me =)
Couldn't agree more! Wish it was little longer.
I'm really enjoying this and it just keeps getting better.

did you see the black guy's necklace? In the shape of the genetic code. I would bet that that was Sila. He couldn't hear his thoughts.

Did the cop feint due to overexertion of his powers or was it the unreadable black chap?Good shout on the stripper, sounds pretty plausible to me. With the cop feinting I wasn't sure if it was to do with the black guy or that he got overwhelmed by hearing everyone's thoughts? No idea, roll-on next week :D

Is the black guy the strippers bloke perhaps? Maybe thats why the son said he'd never be found?
How messed up is that script, amazed a US exec took a chance on it.
Enjoyingg so far but at times can't help but blurt out at the TV "what the edit"
Please don't bypass the swear censor.
I wonder if that's the first time a topless* cheerleader has been shown on primetime US telly?

Nikki being inhabited by DL seems a good call and I think the mother may be involved.I think the guy in the bar with the necklace is Syler which is why the cop could'ent read his throughts.
Claire will never be able to explain how she is still alive after an autopsy which will cause her to run away.

The ending of Ep3 was cool :D Hopefully they'll show her completely rebuilding herself.
Fairly sure the black guy isn't Sylar, or at least not the guy we see trying to kidnap the kid from the FBI building, who I assume definitely was Sylar?
Guy in the FBI building looks white with a slightly greying beard on my TV (it's impossible to tell when I play it back on the PC, but on TV it's much clearer).

This is definitely becoming a series to watch although I hope Sylar doesn't turn out to be a copy of Magneto, with added telekinesis.
Looking forward to next week's - and I'm glad Greg Grunberg has managed to move onto another decent show after Alias.
Well I'm hooked. It's big and daft but executed with far more style and brains than some other dross I've seen from the US recently. Credit to the cast, too - Ali Larter is a revelation, onscreen alone for much of the time. (Or is she ? :suspect: )
Maybe in these post-modern times my Irony Sensor is set too high but I'd forgiven the 'cheesy' voiceover, presuming it was intended as a genre pastiche. Too cynical ?

I also wonder if the two brothers are gone turn against each other. Or atleast one of them die. Can't see both of them with same powers on the same side.

They haven't got the same powers...
Only one of them can fly...as ably demonstrated by the climbing frame attempts

Maybe Sylar gains the powers of the peoples brains he eats ? More brains ,more different powers ??
Great show by they way, I am really getting into it. Still don't know what kind of powers the stripper has ?
Thought the frozen time shot of the truck crash bit was amazingly well done. Another good episode.
Really enjoying this as its a great fun show.
The japanese guy cracks me up the truck scene was so well done!
The theory about the brains sounds spot on
Anyone else notice the symbol on the cheerleader girls book?

Ducky don't trust the doctor/prof fellas next door neighbour... not one bit.... hmmmmm Ducky feels a disturbance in the force.
Great ending to ep 3 though :)
I've got a couple of questions:-
1. why would cheerleader's "death" warrant an autopsy? Surely there would have been no question into the cause of death. I assumed 'baddies' had taken her, opened her up to find out the source of her ability.
2. can the two Japanese fellas understand English? Are they able to read the comic or are they just going on the pictures?
great show - up there with Dexter as favourite new show of the season
Her death would be classed as suspicious and would warrant an autopsy, suprised though as her dad (the baddie) knows her abilities and he seems to be some sort of spook, unless she is in some goverment lab somewhere.
Lots of japanese can read and understand english but not talk it, mainly due to mainstream media and internet being mostly in english.
unless she is in some goverment lab somewhere.
Thats what i reckon.. that can be the only way she can walk outta there and not cause alarm in the widespread public. If she walked out of normal hospital it would spread panic. walking out of a top secret location would keep it 'low key'

Hiro doesn't understand English. We found that out when he was being interviewed. I ould have expected him to understand English. His friend may do, since he's a dirty pervert paying $39 for a quick flash of boobies on an English website..

Great show but something thats not grabbing me yet. Maybe i know that certain things will always happen. My two favorite are the Painter and the Japanese guys.
But will stick with it.

Also, from the promo pic, there is one "hero" we've yet to see, however it doesnt look like the man in the bar.

Enjoying this show, but why is the Indian chap covered in a sheen of sweat all the time?
Enjoyed it, but boy is cheerleader girl going to have some explaining to do. And we have learnt how extreme her power is - in an autopsy, they would remove the heart, lungs, intestines and brain for examination before putting them all back in. So she can sort that out as well
Had another look at the ending and you cannot really see what has been removed? Do they not break the rib cage?

Am still really enjoying it - much more than Lost which is very close to jumping the shark unless it comes up with some decent answers soon. This show at least seems to have some purpose which the viewer can understand too...

Ok i lknow its only TV but maybe the guy doing it went for a cuppa? As you have to break the Rib Cage first Guess it depends on how they do it in their hospital. They can either use a saw to cut through the sternum and crack the ribs apart with a rib spreader (as they do in ER and the such to get to the heart) or they can use the saw to cut through the ribs on either side and lift the whole rib cage out as one piece.

You know, the S word. Ah never mind. There was I was trying to make a serious point about the hypocrisy of American television showing mindless violence inflicted on teenage girls for the sake of drama, while not allowing one four letter word that would only offend senior citizens and the far right, and I was trumped by the automatic obscenity filter.

Posted in wrong thread. Apologies if I spoiled it for anyone.
Good series, it's keeping me entertained for each epsiode (gasp! at the autopsy! Looks like that's her weakness, everything has to be set back for the body to heal, otherwise it stays "broken") and I'm not really noticing the voiceover. Wonder if the Indian guy has 'powers' too, or is he just the link / focal point between each of them? Now for episode 4. :D
edit It might not have been the coroner that removed the stick from the cheerleader's head, it could have been her adoptive father (him with the glasses) to allow her to escape or just see if she could heal herself from all that.

Great episode last night - I'd have to say that, from the shows I'm watching at the mo, it has to be 'Heroes', '24' and 'Lost' in order of what I'm looking forward to the most.
Hiro is STILL a legend though, 'I DID IT!!!' he's superb, which means they are bound to kill him off somehow! Also enjoying the character of the policeman, his inability to read the thoughts of the guy in the bar, made me think it's either Syler, or another hero who can block the powers of others perhaps?
Didn't get the scene with Nikki in the desert though, being pulled over by the policeman - he says 'Mr somethingorother wants to see you' So - was he not a real policeman then?
Roll on next week - the wife could take or leave this show, but I think it's awesome!
He was a real policeman, just another under the pay of Linderman (like so many people it seems :suspect: ).

Could he control the bullets perhaps (like the glass later on) and just made it look like they hit him?
Actually, while they tried to keep his face covered, the brief glimpse you did get didn't look like the actor we see later on - wonder if they didn't have that sorted by this stage.
Couldn't be bothered to freeze-frame to check though! :dork:

i'm guessing:
Sylar is following Mohinder's father's research/maps around the world, killing off other 'Heroes' and stealing their powers. He does this by cutting off the top of their head and somehow ingesting their brain.
At some point Sylar will destroy New York, unless the others, forewarned by Hiro (and Issac), band together to stop him ...
as to who is good or bad, i think there are shades of grey, but essentially, as Sylar is more powerful, and has a head start, they are all on the same side because they are all potential 'donors' ... except maybe Peter ...
Could he control the bullets perhaps (like the glass later on) and just made it look like they hit him?

W.r.t. the bullets, he does not regenerate and you'll find out about his powers later; what's likely to have happened is that not all the bullets hit their mark and even if they did they perhaps were not fatal wounds.

He does seem to have multiple powers based on what we've seen so far. The crime scene showed telekinesis and freezing while he seemed to show some level of regeneration/invulnerabilty and flight in tonights episodes. Im guessing this links in with the brains he's stealing from other heroes. Whether he's scoffing them to acquire their abilities or just studying them to find the centre of those powers I've no idea.
This series definitely has me hooked though :)

I pretty much agree with what most others have already said, great show, really interesting and exciting, so I'll be continuing on with this one, hopefully.
I really like the artist's power, really cool, but it seems strange that his girlfriend didn't believe him even after he's done about 10 paintings, all of which have really happened...Also loving Hiro, at the moment he's just stealing the show as he seems to be the only character really relishing the opportunity to use his powers for a good cause. Some aspects of the show aren't so good though, some of the things that happen in the cheerleader's story seem a bit cliched (the attempted rape came out of nowhere, I thought), and the chase with 'Sylar' (why didn't he just sneak in and fly away without anyone noticing?), but another one who thought the ending was fantastic! Looking forward to next week's episode...

A lot of you have seen the whole series which is fine, but a lot here will only be watching at BBC 2, BBC HD or BBC 3 pace.

Can we please not talk about who turns up in what way in future episodes, how a character is developed & casting of characters we dont know & lot about or have seen without 'spoiler' tags :brickwall
This thread is for episode 3 ONLY.
A lot of you have seen the whole series which is fine, but a lot here will only be watching at BBC 2, BBC HD or BBC 3 pace.
Even mentioning that a certain character has a larger role or mentioning what he/she can or cant do in future episodes is a spoiler to other people who have not watched the show.
i've only seen the first 3 episodes, and i'm sure Sylar will have a larger role to play ...
I'm very underwhelmed so far. If it hadn't been for that ending with the cheerleader I would have thought, what's the current phrase, 'Meh!'
Hiro is great though.
I mean the next episode (the one where many people have said it gets really good) doesn't even get todays choice in the Radio Times
