I've just watched Annie Hall (again) and I'm wondering what is the most popular film starring the bespectacled genius.
Could people refrain from naming 'Antz' ? :D

potentially, they're all fantastic, because the majority are very similar in style.
manhatten
bullets over broadway
mighty aphrodite
everything you always wanted to know about sex.. but were afraid to ask
and many more, titles of which alude me, like the musical number.
and the pic where he dubbs a dodgy HK spy movie, changing the dialogue.
there are a few others which were actually shown about 2 years ago in a woody allen season on terrestrial TV.
infact, thinking about it, he's done loads of movies.. all i' rate pretty highly.
I like Manhattan (http://uk.imdb.com/Title?0079522). Not watched any others though (will get round to it eventually - it's tough having to catch up on a century of cinematic history :p)
He's made about 3 films.
Over and over again....
1. Crimes and Misdemeanors
2. Manhattan
and the rest......
Hannah and Her Sisters is still out in front for me, FD, though I'm sure I could name 20 I'm at least very fond of.
Play it Again Sam, Manhattan, Husbands and Wives, are all favourites. Perversely, I'm really quite fond of (the perenially unpopular) September and not fond at all of (the well loved) Crimes and Misdemeanours.

Much as I feel that Manhattan, Annie Hall & Hannah and her Sisters are fantastically good films, mixing great jokes with some really accomplished film-making, Love and Death will always remain my favourite - I probably know it by heart, and its filled with insane one-liners.
A friend and I often go into an inexplicable chorus of:
No, its a greater honour for me
No, its a greater honour for me
No, you must be Don Fransisco's sister.
Far and away my favourite is "SLEEPER". Nothing he has done has approached it...IMHO.
I've got a real soft spot for both Everyone Says I Love You (Under $11 at DeepDiscountDVD) and Play It Again Sam, but his best that I;ve seen I'd say is Annie Hall. However, got Hannah and Her Sisters for Christmas, and hopefully watching it this weekend so things may yet change!

I'm gonna be perverse and put in a vote for Sweet and Lowdown and Small Time Crooks. The first half of SMT features some of the best one liners ever committed to celluiod, whilst the second half proved that Hugh Grant could play the charming bad guy some time before Bridget Jones. S&L mixes oscar nominated performances from Sean Penn and Samantha Morton with wonderful guitar music in all it's mono glory...
As I've gotten nearer middle age I've found the angst of Annie Hall or Manhattan difficult to watch, and fallen back on the more inconsequential works that prove that Allen is above all a great entertainer...
Annie Hall and Sleeper without a doubt. Whilst I've enjoyed some of his later stuff, such as Hannah & Her Sisters, Radio Days, etc., they seem to lack something in comparison with his movies made in the 70's.

Haven't really seen that many I'm ashamed to admit but my favourite is Play it Again Sam.
Manhattan Murder Mystery !
IMO, it's hillarious, and the re-teaming of cowardly woody with daring Diane Keaton can't be beaten. I love Murder/mystery films, so I'm probably biased, but I find it very funny.
Hannah and her Sisters and Radio days come a close, joint second. I watched the latter on New years day and kept thinking that the 8 year old lead boy looked familliar, before realising it was Seth Green from Buffy.:D
Talk about before they were famous !!!

This isn't the first example of the Woodster's talent-spotting skills - Sylvester Stallone pops up as a mugger in Bananas, six years before Rocky!
Hard to decide, mind you there are so many I still need to see.
I loved Sleeper - very funny, and enjoyed Play it again Sam but I would still be predictable and have to choose between Manhattan with it's sumptuous black and white visuals and excellent Gershwin score and Annie Hall which has some superb dialogue. Hmm.....possibly Annie Hall just shades it for me.
Next two I want to see are Manhattan Murder Mystery and Zelig which I shall probably grab once the bank balance recovers from Christmas and the sales. (Is it just me or are there some seriously cheap DVD's around just now?).
PS Still interested to hear MB's favourite - or did the appearance of that fine actor Stallone in Bananas clinch it?
STARDUST MEMORIES which just shaved out LOVE & DEATH after a recount invoving a hanging chad !! :D
Got to be Manhatten closely followed by Hannah and her sisters.
Without a doubt, for me personally, it has to be Sleeper, such a funny film.
The line from the robot dog 'My name's Rags WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!' never fails to make me laugh out loud
SUPERB!
Manhattan followed by Annie Hall
