I don't know if anyone recalls the 1980s TV mini-series "Cover up" with Jennifer O'Neill. I'd like to know the credits for the title song "Hold on to your Hero". Any help would be appreciated.

I used to watch that... :dork:

Was it maybe Bonnie Tyler... ?

Or did she do a later Cover Version of it... ?

Cheers. :)

You could be right. Bonnie Tyler has a song "Holding out for a Hero" and it could be the same one. I'll wait for someone else to confirm this and buy the easily available CD. Thanks.

The song is the same - "Holding Out For A Hero" - however the 'Cover Up' version was performed by Elizabeth G Dailly, not Bonnie Tyler (too expensive).

On youtube you can watch the title sequence of 'Cover Up'. The not-Bonnie Tyler version of the song is pretty awful it has to be said! If you like the song just get the proper original version!
btw 'Cover Up' wasn't a mini-series, it ran for a full season (http://www.tv.com/cover-up/show/5908/episode_listings.html?tag=tabs;episodes) but went down the pan when Jon-Erik Hexum died during production and was replaced as co-star by Antony Hamilton.
Oh and just how ironic is Jon-Erik Hexum's title card in the opening sequence!
This is one of the still-to-be-released '80s series that I would dearly love to see get a dvd release. Awesomely silly stuff!

Are you all having a laugh? Surely that can't be a real show, it looks too cheesy and fake even for an 80s action show.

Thanks, but I,m getting a bit mixed-up here. You're saying that the non-Bonnie Tyler version of the song is awful? This means that Tyler's own version is good? For what it's worth, I have ordered the CD.

I quite liked the tune of the version heard as title song for the TV show, whoever sang it. If it was not Tyler, it must be this Elizabet Dailly person, but I cannot find any CD credits to her anywhere. Please help.

While we're on the subject of classic 80's series/theme tunes, does anyone remember Hardcastle & McCormick? It had a real 80's rock theme and I've never been able to track it down.

Really wish Bravo would do a weekend for this series like they did with Manimal and Automan

I think the theme was called 'Drive' but not the Cars song.

Got my CD of Bonnie Tyler's 'Greatest Hits' today. This is a 2001 edition and while "Holding out for a Hero" in it is excellent, it seems like a modern digital mix. It sounds somewhat different from the 1984 title-song in cover-up.

It should sound somewhat different as it's not a crappy sound-a-like cover version for starters! ;)

Here you go guys... Elizabeth Daily (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0197354/) . Doesn't mention Cover Up (other than she was dating Jon-Erik Hexum at the time of his death) but it's definitely her.

But I did a search on her music....ususlly released as "E G Daily"... and in various sites. Nowhere does it say that she sang the title song "Holding out for a Hero" for Cover Up.

Well, here's one link for you: Cover Up at Series-80 (http://www.series-80.net/us/tv-show/cover-up.html) and here's another (although in french): Cover Up theme song (http://www.leflt.com/annuseries/encyclopedie/series.php?series=241).

The transalation goes something like... ""Holding out for has hero" was at the base the song of Bonnie Tyler, enormous a hit of the year 1984. The credits of the series are a recovery interpreted by singer EG Daily, the girl friend of Jon-Erik Hexum which had later a large tube electro pop "Say it say it" in 1986. In its album, the song "Just for you" is dedicated to regretted actor" (via Babelfish).
