Where did you get your information from? I've been waiting for this since the series began - and they only bloody well started to release each series last year, like I'm gonna get the Video box sets now!.
Ps - What about last nights episode. Island Niles. Classic....

The information about the 1st and 2nd series being released on DVD was on the R2 Project website - that's where I read it anyway!
Missed last nights episode:( - I'm a huge fan - hadn't realised that the new series started last night.

TBH 4 or 5 years ago Fraiser was so funny! but more recently it has got a little stale and the wife jokes and so on have got a bit used. BTW I also missed yesterdays episode

No, it was dire. I'm a big Frasier fan and wish they finished it when Daphne and Niles got together. Since then it has gone downhill ever since.

I thought the first half of the episode was a bit stale but I think the second part did a very good job in justifying Frasier's soul-searching over the last season. That said, I do feel that the show has gone downhill, perhaps even as early as season 5 in which there seemed to be a constant need for Frasier to develop a relationship running throughout each episode. The earlier seasons seemed to mix this better with other plot ideas, and Frasier's constant soul-searching can get a bit tiresome (even though it does add a nice sense of depth to the character - much better than the attempts at characterisation in sitcoms such as Friends). Perhaps it's contradicting myself to say that I appreciate the attempts to deepen the character, yet my favourite episode from the last season was the episode where Frasier and Niles went to that autorepair class, which had more in common with the jokier episodes from the first few seasons. Nevertheless, the reports on forthcoming Frasier episodes have been good, so I'll wait for a few more episodes before I make any more judgement.

The same thing happended with Cheers, which was done by the same team, dipped in the middle seasons then came back strong for the last two to three seasons.
Although I must admit I am finding his soul searching rather tiresome as well, Niles no longer seems to have those great one-liners he used to have.
