I wonder what anyone from England would think if they saw these shows. I think that it would confirm the stereotype of the Welsh as inbred hillbillies. I rather like them especially Satellite City but I think it's something of an acquired taste and belongs in some ways to the so bad it's good school of comedy e.g on the buses, are you being served.
I'll take a look at that site ta.

I am a huge fan of Satellite City, and Boyd Clack's works and I honestly think that these comedies are very good. I'm a big fan of a wide range of sitcoms and other shows ranging from Blackadder, the office, Fawlty Towers, Steptoe & Son, even through to the Good Life :) and I can honestly say that Satellite City genuinely makes me laugh hysterically even after seeing such classics!
I agree it is sometimes an aquired taste but I'd never say "it's so bad it's good". It would be interesting to see what English people say about it though!
Well thats my opinion anyway!

I assume both these shows have only ever aired on BBC Wales?

Unfortunately so, which means they've not had the chance to be viewed and judged by anyone else. I think they deserve that, even if it means some people outside Wales may not like them. At least that way it would be fair to the writers, producers and also the actors who made the show.
There have been a few cases where shows have come out of Scotland and Ireland, why not Wales! I think with a wider audience, the shows would get a possible DVD release, which I'm definitely waiting for and then perhaps we'll think about shutting up! :)
Welcome to the dvdforums jon.

I don't think either of these shows are on a par with Father Ted or Rab C Nesbitt for example. My guess is that if these shows were aired in England they would go down like a lead balloon.

Cheers Kandee! I've been wanting to join for ages but could never find the time, but then this topic came up and I wanted to share my views! :)
Ok well perhaps they're not on par with the aforementioned shows but at least they could get a chance to be. Even if they don't get a chance to be, it'd be really cool if the fans (and there are a lot of them, many don't even know of the site) could get a DVD release.
If you can, please sign the petitions at the site listed in the first post and we'll get what we want quicker! Also tell your friends!
(hope thats kosher with the mod's please delete if it's not!)
Cheers

I used to see Boyd walking around Albany Road every so often, I always meant to shake his hand or something, but he kinda resembled a psychotic tramp at the time so I thought it best not to.
Still, Wales' #1 celebrity eh.

I dunno about Wales' #1 celebrity but you needn't be worried about approaching him, he's a genuinely awesome bloke, and he loves talking to people.
Personally I think that Satellite City is one of the best sitcoms ever to come out of Wales, I know there hasn't been many to choose from but it was a great program.

As an English person living in Wales (for 16 years now) I didn't realise Satellite City was a comedy I thought it was a reality TV fly on the wall doco ;)
Seriously though the best I can say is I find it mildly amusing as post-pub TV if I've had a skin full. I really don't think its anything special. As someone else said its no Father Ted or Rab C Nesbitt.
