Wharfedale TV's and NTSC

Folks - mates just bought a Sony SONY DAVS500 DVD Player, plugged into his cheap Wharfedale TV and is getting B&W on playing R1 discs.

Can the Wharf handle a NTSC signal? Connecting via S-Video to Scart in AV1 on the TV.

Had a quick look on Wharf's site and doesn't mention any NTSC on their TV's but hey you guys are better informed!

The other halfs Wharfie 890 widescreen used to be able to handle NTSC okay (from my Sony 725).

I can't test any specific setups for you, as the telly is awaiting collection from Tesco (it's one of the suspected fire hazard models! :eek: )
